Dr. McKiernan graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a BA in biology and received his MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his training in urology and general surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, followed by a urologic surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. McKiernan's clinical practice is focused on urologic oncology and particularly on surgical therapy in high-risk patients with bladder and kidney cancers. Dr. McKiernan evaluates and treats over 1,000 patients with bladder cancer every year. His research, funded by NIH and biotechnology industry grants, focuses on developing novel therapeutics for bladder cancer treatment as well as comparative effectiveness research in urologic oncology. In the management of kidney and bladder cancer, he has special expertise in organ preservation and reconstructive surgery to maximize quality of life. Dr. McKiernan's research has been published in Cancer, Cancer Research, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, JAMA Oncology, Journal of Urology, Urologic Oncology, and Urology. He has authored and co-authored more than 220 scientific articles and book chapters on urologic cancer and related issues. For the past 10 years, he has directed a research team at Columbia University Medical Center investigating quality outcomes and effectiveness in urologic cancer surgery. He has served as the Vice Chairman for the AJCC TNM Staging Task Force, Co-Chair of the AUA Guidelines Panel on non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, as well as on the American Board of Urology and Society of Urologic Oncology Examination Committees. In addition, Dr. McKiernan is the principal investigator of the NIH-funded clinical trials program of experimental therapeutics in bladder cancer at Columbia University/NYPH, which is investigating new agents for bladder preservation in patients whose cancer has recurred after standard therapy. In collaboration with researchers at Columbia's Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, his team continues to develop new therapeutic strategies for managing bladder cancer.

Biography: Dr. Ojas Shah is the George F. Cahill Professor of Urology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He also serves as the Director of the Division of Endourology and Stone Disease at Columbia University Medical Center. His clinical and research interests include surgical and metabolic treatments of kidney stone disease, minimally invasive urologic surgery, upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma (transitional cell carcinoma), ureteral strictures, ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction, ureteral/renal reconstructive surgery, and BPH (benign prostate hyperplasia). He serves as the principal investigator in many clinical research trials regarding the surgical or medical management of stone disease. He is a graduate of the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgical and urologic training at New York University Medical Center. He spent an additional year at Wake Forest University Health Sciences Center as a fellow in endourology, laparoscopy and metabolic stone disease. Dr. Shah is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the medical and surgical management of patients with urinary stone disease. He recently served as a member of the American Urological Association's Surgical Management of Stones Guidelines Committee. He was also recently appointed to the American Board of Urology's Examination Committee. Dr. Shah is an Assistant Editor for the Journal of Urology, the most highly cited and amongst the most respected international journals in the field. He is also co-editor of the 5th Edition of Taneja's Complications of Urologic Surgery which was released in 2018. Dr. Shah serves as the Director of the Endourology Fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center. He additionally has a strong focus on medical student and resident education, and served as the urology residency program director at NYU School of Medicine prior to joining Columbia. Biography: Dr. Rodrguez is a board-certified urologist with expertise in the surgical reconstruction of pelvic floor conditions. A clinical and basic scientist, Dr. Rodrguez has published more than 100 original studies in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Urology, Urology, and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. She is the principal investigator of the NIH-sponsored Multidisciplinary Approach to the Study of Urologic Pelvic Pain (MAPP) research network, which investigates the underlying causes of bladder pain syndrome and how best to treat it. Dr. Rodrguez has received numerous research grants and served as reviewer of multiple journals and member of study sections for the NIH, including its Kidney and Urologic Systems Function and Dysfunction Study Section. She has received multiple research awards from the American Urological Association as well as its Western Section, and the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine, and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU). Alukal is The Andrew Sabin Family Foundation Associate Professor in the Department of Urology; he is also Director of Men's Health at Columbia/NewYork-Presbyterian and Fellowship Director in Andrology/Male Reproductive Health. He serves as the Medical Director for Access-to-Care for ColumbiaDoctors. Dr. Alukal serves in a number of roles at a national and international level for professional specialty and subspecialty organizations, including the American Urological Association (AUA), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction (SSMR), of which he is a past-President and current Board Member. As a member of the AUA Ambassadors, he have lectured internationally to the Urologic Professional Societies of countries including India, Italy, and Bangladesh. He has authored or been a co-author on nearly 50 peer-reviewed publications and scientific book chapters and as well is the lead editor of the book "Design and Implementation of the Modern Men's Health Center."
