Biography: Dr. Chang was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. He moved to the United States at age 13 and has come to call New England his second home. He received Bachelor of Science in Biology from Brown University in 2004 and Doctor of Medicine from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2008. After medical school, Dr. Chang pursued a 2-year Clinical Research Fellowship in Uveitis and Ocular Immunology with Dr. C Stephen Foster, and he served as the Chief Research Fellow from 2009 to 2010. Upon completing medical internship at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA, Dr. Chang moved to Manhattan and underwent residency training in Ophthalmology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. During his senior year, he held responsibilities as the Administrative Chief Resident. Dr. Chang then completed fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago, where he was named Fellow of the Year. In fall of 2016, Dr. Chang returned to Boston and joined MERSI as a Partner. In 2021, he became co-president of MERSI.Dr. Chang has authored many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and is a co-editor of Uveitis: A Quick Guide to Essential Diagnosis. He has been named a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly (2021 - present) and Boston Magazine (2022 - present), and in 2023 was selected by Newsweek to be one of the top 200 ophthalmologists in the U.S.In his free time, Dr. Chang enjoys cooking, biking, traveling with family, and playing Beethoven, Brahms and Chopin on the piano.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Anesi is dedicated to making sure his patients are well informed and educated about their ocular conditions and what treatments are best suited to them. He believes in forming a partnership with his patients, and his recommendations are intended to guide them with both immediate and long-term concerns. He strives to offer the most complete care possible for all patients and to minimize the risk of vision loss by discussing a proactive approach. Testing and management decisions, including surgical discussions, are typically performed in a single visit. Same day appointments are usually available and new patients are often seen within 1-2 weeks if not sooner.
