Best orthopedic surgeon
Dr. Zavala and his staff are exceptional. Their bedside manner and ability to explain complex issues in simple terms make the visit highly valuable. He successfully performed my rotator cuff surgery several years ago and recently completed my knee surgery. Everything they predicted was accurate. The trust I have in him and his staff is unparalleled. They are truly outstanding.

Just an Observation
Positives: short wait time, polite staff, got shots in my knees after X-rays, follow up for gel injections, and PTOther: no time for questions unless you have them memorized, can speed talk without taking a breath, and have the listening skills of an owl; you have a pain, he knows his stuff, you get your treatment and get outThe end

Right knee 10 years ago left knee this week
10 years ago I blew out my right knee. Went to see Dr. Zavala and he did my surgery and everything went perfectly. Still good to this day. Hurt my left knee during the storm cleanup cutting down trees and moving my generator when the power was out for 3 days. Did X-rays at his office and he called for a MRI to get better details. He is very professional very nice to talk to and we had an excellent experience with his staff. Hopefully this surgery goes as well as the other one did.

Save yourself the time
I went to Dr. Zavala in July 2023 because of knee pain. I have had 4 pervious knee surgeries on this particular knee. My first appointment Dr. Zavala seemed to think after looking at the X-Rays that there was nothing wrong with my knee other than arthritis. I continued to press the issue since i have lived with arthritis for over 10 years, and i knew this was different. I was able to convince him to order an MRI. My MRI did come back which showed i did tear my meniscus. We scheduled my 5th knee surgery for the following month. After surgery i was on crutches for 2 weeks. Once released from the crutches my knee cap started coming out of place. I went back to Dr. Zavala and expressed my concerns. Dr. Zavala dismissed what i had to say and again said it was my arthritis. I did not go see him again. Now here we are in February 2024 and my injured knee has dislocated. Needless to say i will NOT be going back to Dr. Zavala.

Good Dr and great staff
I went to Dr Z for a second opinion and was so impressed that I stayed. I have worked with many doctors and their staffs over the years. It is a solid group. The PAs are wonderful. One of measures is their willingness and ability to listen. I give them a 4.5/5 which is as high as I ever go. I have been impressed by their ability to access MRIs on line. They know their stuff. Now all of that said. They are going through growing pains. Recently changed their appointment system which has had its issues. I have not had many issues with it but I imagine that I am fortunate. Be patient and give them a chance.

My husband and I had shoulder surgery three and four years ago. He was exceptional in all aspects of his profession. Our recovery went faster than usual because of a procedure he offered. Treatment and recovery was above and beyond.

Highly Recommend
I am writing this review because I see all of these low review scores for Dr. Zavala and my experience with him was amazing. Dr. Zavala did emergency surgery on my ankle after I had broken it in 3 places. He was so kind and compassionate and helped to calm the fears I had at the time because I had never broken a bone in my life. The surgery he performed was amazing! I am 7 years post op and the scar lines are very minimal and with time my ankle went almost back to normal. I have a plate and 8 pins holding everything together in there. I highly recommend him to everyone I know who has any knee or leg issues.

I cannot recommend this doctor. Seemed uninterested in what my issues were. Seemed pretty dismissive and didn't even suggest anything to alleviate severe knee pain. Finally was able to get a cortisone shot after asking the doctor. Never got a cortisone shot and had to ask what was going to happen, how soon would feel relief, etc. Very rushed appointment.

His receptionist keeps calling me three minutes before my appointment to tell me he’s in surgery. I’m in a lot of pain; it’s horrible to drive to his office and back home. I’m looking for help, not a hassle. Hopes gone wrong on this one.

Worked with this surgeon professionally for many years and when the day came that I needed my own shoulder surgery (SLAP tear), I asked Dr. Zavala to take care of me. I was back to 100% in less than the expected recovery time. Excellent surgeon and staff

Dr. Zavala replaced my right knee on 6/20/17 and I went home from the hospital the next day. The day after I went home, I was back to his office for PT. I won't say it has been a cake walk but doing the PT has helped tremendously. I was walking without a walker or cane in 3 weeks. I had arthritis in my knee, I knew the only option was to replace it and I'm glad I did. It's much stronger and my sister says I walk straight now. He is a great doctor and I highly recommend him.

He is I think the best. He makes eye contact with you he listens. Gives you options. And and added ingredient. I'm a retired nurse practitioner and have known lots of dr s he has that certain something that makes a good physician a spark. The intelligence the mastery of what he does. But he really likes pt.s not all dr do but he is kind and smart. I highly recommend him

Staff is incompetent, countless tries to set up appt- wish I'd not wasted the time now. Doc speaks in generalities...draws pictures to represent "issue", as opposed to showing the MRI- who does that?

Called at 7:45am to make sure I was coming to the correct office. Was given one address which come to find out was the "old address building". After waiting outside that office with OTHER EXISTING PATIENTS, for 30 mins, I decided to call and figure out what was going on. I was told they were at there new location which was not even in the same building. Horrible patient care/ answering phone service. Giving people the wrong address location! Already bad patient care, haven't even seen the DR!

He did not explain the additional issues with knee he found during surgery to the people accompanying me, nor with me until 2 visits later. One of the PAs is arrogant. You have to leave messages and can't speak to anyone if you call the office. There are to many medical assistants that do not communicate with the many people in the office. The appointments are really with his PAs instead of him.
