Staff Incompetence has Vet liable for 17k
Doctor Hotchkiss is a talented surgeon. I cannot recommend his office bc his incompetent staff coded an injury i sustained on active duty as a car accident. I dont know how 'Gun truck' equals car but these days im not surprised. So now im jumping through hoops, on hold for hours with different billing depts trying to fix this. On the hook for 17k right now. Zero help from their office on this.

World Class Dr and Person
Dr Hotchkiss is World Class. You need to schedule an appointment with him BEFORE you do anything else. I cannot begin to express how thrilled I am with him on every level. Start with he is a really incredible human being. He so genuinely cares about people. He is a surgeon as a last resort. He listens to every concern you have, spends as much time as you need him to, addresses every issue and treats accordingly. 3 years after starting to see him, I injured my back and had to have an MRI somewhere else. The radiologist missed the issue in my back that Dr Hotchkiss found by asking a couple of questions. He explained everything about the surgery before I had it. He postponed a trip he was taking by a day just to do my emergency surgery. And the outcome was terrific. The hospital staff raves about him. They are in the know. I cannot say enough good about him.

In pain, still, today 3 Years latee
Dr.Hotchkiss does have a great bedside manner. Very caring. However! After surgery I was and am in more pain than before the surgery. He performed a 7 level fusion T11-pelvis. Rods screws, the whole gamut. Chronic pain at T9, T10, which is recorded in his surgical notes, as being surgical option. However he didn't choose that option. Now I suffer with Proximal junctional kyphosis. 24/7. Im.now up for another very serious surgery. Why don't spine drs EVER look at the ENTIRE SPINE when they know that part of the spine is in total disarray!??! So.surgery scheduled for a very serious c3-c7 in 2 months. Spinal cord is compromised all 3 levels. C2-c7 were the original levels for surgery However, my CURRENT surgeon said it was TOO MUCH at once especially with the seriousness of c3-c7. All I'm saying is..I'm im more pain than before..they cut me off pain meds(at 3 weeks on a FRIDAY with NO indication of this(unless they told me while in pain after surgery). He did NOT take care of me.

7 mo post op I continued to have pain after surgery. I was told by Dr. H’s PA that my imaging looked great and there was nothing further they could do for me. That’s a bold statement to make w/o ordering proper imaging, how can they say my imaging looks great on an MRI w/o contrast when you can’t even see the damage done to the fusion/the imaging isn’t clear. 2nd opinion with proper imaging -found out Dr.H’s fusion failed (non union) through a CT scan & MRI w contrast. Maybe this was just an amateur over-site on Dr.H’s part at my expense. I’m 10days post op from a revision and decompression from a lower lever Dr.H missed. I hired a more experienced surgeon this time around, low and behold I am pain free.Good thing I was my own advocate and got a second opinion after Dr. H’s PA told me another surgery would make me worse. Dr. H & PA always made me feel like a hypochondriac. They do not think outside the box and quick to drop you if you complain about his precious work.

I have been dealing with the same issue for 8 years and just finished treatment with doctor #5. They’ve always treated me the same. Same MRI, same treatment and same meds. Still dealing with the issues. Dr Hotchkiss was the first doctor to diagnose something different with a different treatment plan. I haven’t started the treatment, but the fact he wants to do things differently is very encouraging.

Dr Hotchkiss discussed all of the non-surgical options and made sure I took the time to explore those alternatives before agreeing to a spinal fusion. His patience, professionalism and knowledge are top notch. I would recommend him highly.

Dr. Hotchkiss could not have been more caring, knowledgeable or articulate in my visit with what I had been experiencing with pain over the last month. His kind, and yet expert findings were appreciated, but even more impressive, was his ability to articulate to me the importance of my own self care and what his prognosis was without suggestion of further and unnecessary testing or surgery. He is a Doctor with a heart for people and I highly recommend!!!

The best. After trying hard to wait on surgery for over a year, I found Dr Hotchkiss. I wish now I had gone to him a year ago. After 6 weeks I was in rehab and the EXCRUCIATING pain was gone. He is my hero, I could barely walk.
