Biography: Derrick S. Porter, DO graduated from University of Pikeville, Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, KY. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, VA. Dr. Porter completed fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology, both from Grandview Medical Center in Dayton, OH. Dr. Porter is board certified in internal medicine, nuclear cardiology, and cardiology.

Biography: Robert Bulow, DO, FACOI, FACC graduated from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Chicago, IL. He completed hisinternal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Bulow is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Osteopathic Internists. He is board certified in cardiology, interventional cardiology, and nuclear cardiology.

Biography: Palaniappan Muthappan, MD, FACC, FSCAI, RPVI is an Interventional Cardiologist at Premier Cardiovascular Institute, the Cardiac Catheterization Lab director for Miami Valley Hospital and the Director of Structural Cardiology for Premier Health. Dr. Muthappan completed his medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis, graduating with highest honors. He was awarded the Steven Dressler Prize for commitment to humanitarianism in medicine and the Merck Scholar Prize for outstanding academic performance. He was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. After residency, he worked for Medecins sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders), running a hospital, outpatient clinic and starting a TB program at a refugee camp between government and rebel held territory in Sudan. Dr. Muthappan trained in Cardiology at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center at the University of Michigan, where he completed fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology with a focus on structural heart disease. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Echocardiography and has been elected to fellowship in the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and to the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI). He also is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) and has completed advanced training in Nuclear Cardiac Imaging. Dr. Muthappan specializes in treating patients with structural heart disease and high risk coronary disease. Dr. Muthappan has special expertise in aortic valve interventions (including TAVR), mitral valve interventions (including Mitraclip or mTEER), high-risk coronary interventions (including Left Main, atherectomy and CTO), PFO closure, ASD closure, left atrial appendage closureand percutaneous (minimally invasive) removal of cardiac masses. Dr. Muthappan and his trainees have presented the groundbreaking work done by our group at Miami Valley Hospital during national conferences including Transcatheter Therapeutics, Cardiovascular Research Technologies, American College Cardiology and CHEST.

Biography: Amit Goyal, MD, FACC wants all patients of Premier Cardiovascular Institute to understand that plaque build-up can affect almost all parts of the body. Most people are aware of blockages in the heart blood vessels which lead to heart attacks or chest discomfort.When the arteries going to the arms, legs, kidneys and brain get blocked, it can lead to arm or leg pain, difficult to control blood pressure or strokes. He specializes in opening up arteries in all of these areas so that our patients can enjoy and live their lives to the fullest. Dr. Amit Goyal graduated summa cum laude from Pennsylvania State University and went on to graduate magna cum laude from the Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. He completed his internship and residency at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. While serving his cardiology fellowship at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital Center, Dr. Goyal was appointed one of two Chief Fellows by the Cardiology Department. He was also acknowledged as a Visiting Fellow in clinical medicine at Columbia University. Dr. Goyal is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.

Biography: Mouhamad Hasan Abdallah, MD, received his medical degree at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and completed his residency at the University Hospital of Cincinnati. Dr. Abdallah completed his fellowship at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Abdallah is board certified in Internal Medicine, Clinical Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology.

Biography: Gary J. Fishbein, MD, FACC's belief in preventative care is consistent with the philosophy of Premier Cardiovascular Institute. He places special emphasis on good nutrition and physical fitness. Dr. Fishbein graduated cum laude from the University of Rochester, New York, and went on to earn a medical degree and a certificate of distinction in Internal Medicine from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Pennsylvania. After completing his residency in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California Irvine Medical Center, Dr. Fishbein completed fellowships in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Fishbein is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and is board certified in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. In addition to Interventional Cardiology, he specializes in Peripheral Vascular Disease and Congestive Heart Failure.

Biography: Aaron Kaibas, DO, FACC is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He recently concluded his Invasive Cardiology Fellowship at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. In 2005, at the University of Kentucky/Chandler Medical Center, he completed his Internal Residence. He achieved his Osteopathic Internship at Grandview Medical in Dayton, Ohio and earned his medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001.

Biography: Zakaria H. Sheikhaden, DO, FACC graduated medical school from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Michigan State University. Dr. Sheikhaden completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Dr. Sheikhaden is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.

Biography: Christina Anslinger, DO graduated from Des Moines University - College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, IA. She completed her internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, OH. Dr. Anslinger is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Osteopathic Internists, and the American Osteopathic Association. She is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and nuclear cardiology.

Biography: Ahmad Abdul-Karim, MD, FACC graduated from Damascus University School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Cardiology at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, OH. Dr. Abdul-Karim has obtained board certifications from American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiology.

Biography: Joseph Solomito, MD, FACC earned his medical degree from Autonomous University of Guadalajara. He completed his residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, New York and his fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, and has a special interest in Echocardiography and Cardiac Angiography.

Biography: M. Atiq Khalid, MD, FACP, FACC, FSCAI earned his medical degree from Punjab University. He completed his residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and his fellowships at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Wisconsin. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, and has a special interest in Nuclear Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. He also has a special interest in complex coronary and peripheral vascular interventions.

Biography: G.S.V. Ramanathan, MD, FACC joined Dayton Heart Center, now Premier Cardiovascular Institute,after enjoying over 16 years in practice in Bedford, Indiana. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Ramanathan also served in several leadership roles, including Director of Cardiology and Director of the Catheterization Lab at Dunn Memorial Hospital and Bedford Regional Medical Center. Dr. Ramanathan earned his medical degree and completed both an internship and residency program at Kerala University in Kerala India. He completed additional training in the United States, including an internship at Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Illinois; a residency program at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan; and a cardiology fellowship at the Texas Heart Institute - Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. Dr. Ramanathan is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Biography: Gary C. Brown, MD, FACC earned his medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, and his fellowship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, and has a special interest in Echocardiography and Cardiac Angiography. Dr. Brown is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American Medical Association, Ohio State Medical Association, and the Butler County Medical Society.

Biography: Himad Ullah Khan Khattak, MD earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Khyber Medical College in Pakistan. He completed residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, James J. Peters VA Medical Center in New York. Dr. SKhattak completed a fellowship in advanced heart failure and heart transplant at University of Alabama at Birmingham and a cardiology fellowship and interventional cardiology fellowship at Kettering Medical Center in Ohio. Dr. Khattak is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Medical Association.

Biography: Kamran Riaz, MD, FACC earned medical degrees from King Edward Medical College, University of Punjab in Pakistan. From there, he went on to serve as a staff physician at the Mayo Hospital in Pakistan and several hospitals throughout the United Kingdom where he received membership in the Royal College of Physicians in London. Dr. Riaz then completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the Mid-America Heart Institute at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Riaz is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology as well as a Diplomate of the National Board of Echocardiography. Along with his interest in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and coronary CT angiography, Dr. Riaz also is active in the study of treatment methods for congestive heart failure. He is very involved in the ongoing research studies of congestive heart failure at Premier Cardiovascular Institute.

Biography: Amy Schimke, MD is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, OK. She completed her internal medicine residency at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH and her cardiovascular disease fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. Dr. Schimke has served in the U.S. Air Force for13 yearsand has earned numerous military awards for her service. Dr. Schimke is board certified in cardiovascular disease, echocardiography,internal medicineand nuclear cardiology and is a registered physician in vascular interpretation. She is a lifetime member of Alpha Omega Alpha and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
