Biography: Howard J. Worman, M.D. is Professor of Medicine and Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Worman received his BA from Cornell University and MD from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He did clinical training in internal medicine at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and postdoctoral research training in cell biology at Rockefeller University. He then obtained clinical training in liver diseases at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Worman is internationally recognized for his research in cell biology and hepatology. His laboratory research is focused on primarily on the cell biology of rare genetic diseases. These include different types of muscular dystrophy, cardiomyopathy, lipodystrophy and premature aging syndromes (progeria) . He also does research on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and on the characterization of antibodies in autoimmune liver diseases. His clinical practice is primarily devoted to consultation in liver diseases. Dr. Worman is an author on over 200 scientific publications. In 1998, he was elected to membership in the American Society for Clinical Investigator and, in 2010, to the Association of American Physicians. Biography: Dr. Timothy Wang is a leading expert in gastroenterology cancer research and patient care. His research specifically focuses on transgenic/ knockout mice, stem cells, lineage tracing, bone marrow-derived cells, and FACS analysis of immune/epithelial cells in the gut. His laboratory has for decades investigated the molecular mechanisms of gastrointestinal carcinogenesis, and has been continuously funded by the NIH for 29 years and by the NCI for 14 years. His lab has worked for many years on the role of inflammation in promoting gastrointestinal neoplasia, including colon cancer. His research has defined key roles for stromal cells in tumor development, including myeloid cells. Dr. Wang is the GI Division Chief at Columbia and serves as Co-leader of the Tumor Biology and Microenvironment Program of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. He also serves as director of the Columbia University NCI U54 Tumor Microenvironment (TMEN) program and directs the Barretts Esophageal Translational Research Network (BETRNet) program and the Intestinal Stem Cell Consortium (ISCC) at Columbia. In addition to his leadership at Columbia, Dr. Wang has served as President of the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA). His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Outstanding Investigator Award from the NCI, the Irene and Arthur Fishberg Prize for medical research, the Ruth Leff Siegel Award for pancreatic cancer research, and the William Beaumont Prize in Gastroenterology from the AGA. Biography: I provide the full spectrum of digestive care to children of all ages, from babies with reflux and feeding problems, to school-aged children with abdominal pain and constipation, to adolescents with irritable bowel syndrome, to children with celiac disease, food allergies, and inflammatory bowel disease. I also have special expertise in the gastrointestinal manifestations of cystic fibrosis; I completed the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Developing Innovative GastroEnterology Specialty Training (DIGEST) Program, and serve as the gastroenterology representative on the Program Planning Committee for the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference. My primary practice is located in Stamford, Connecticut, where I see patients in the office and perform procedures such as endoscopies and colonoscopies. I see patients with cystic fibrosis at both the Northern Manhattan Columbia campus and in Stamford. I value working closely with families and their pediatricians, as well as other subspecialists, to provide compassionate and coordinated care for my patients, and really enjoy serving the families of Fairfield and Westchester counties and beyond. As the director of fellowship training for the Department of Pediatrics, I am very involved in graduate medical education. I am not only the director of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship Training Program at Columbia, but I also oversee all of the fellowship programs in the department. As director, I established the Pediatric Fellows' Academy, a shared curriculum that promotes the professional development of pediatric fellows.I have been involved in many educational initiatives for pediatric residents and gastroenterology fellows through the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN). I am currently Vice-Chair of NASPGHAN's Training Committee and recently served as the co-chair of NASPGHAN's Teaching and Tomorrow program for pediatric residents interested in specializing in gastroenterology. I am also the editor of PREP® GI, a peer-reviewed online education program administered by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Biography: The gastrointestinal (GI) tractplays so many important roles in our bodies, and a healthy GI tract is vital toensuring that children's bodies are well-nourished and able to grow to theirpotential. I feel fortunate to be a pediatric gastroenterologist, and I findthe ongoing relationships I have with patients and their families extremelyrewarding. I treat children of all ages,from infancy to early adulthood, with a wide variety of GI diseases, includinginflammatory, allergic, nutritional, feeding, and functional disorders. I alsoperform procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, video capsule endoscopy ofthe small bowel, and intestinal ultrasound to help in diagnosing and treatingthese conditions. My specific area of interest andtraining is inflammatory bowel diseases, which are Crohn's disease andulcerative colitis. These chronic inflammatory conditions of the GI tract canlead to poor health and poor growth if left untreated. I work with the team atthe Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center to provide multidisciplinarycare to our patients. I love partnering with my patients and their families tocreate a plan that allows each child to reach his or her potential. My research interest is thedifferent medications used to treat this spectrum of inflammatory boweldisease, as well as the overlap of inflammatory bowel disease with other GIdiseases. I also spend time in the hospitaland in the office working with our fellows, residents, and medical students,who are all doctors in training. I serve as the Associate Program Director ofthe pediatric gastroenterology fellowship program and love teaching ourtrainees how to perform procedures and care for patients in an evidence-basedand compassionate way.
