Biography: Dr. Goyal is a graduate of Phillips Academy-Andover, completed his undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University, and received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine. Dr. Goyal joined the Weill Cornell Medicine community in 2010 where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine and completed fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease as well as in Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology. During this time, Dr. Goyal also completed a Master's of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Services Research from the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences.Dr. Goyal is now a full-time faculty member at Weill Cornell Medicine, with joint appointments in the Division of Cardiology (as a member of the Perkin Heart Failure Center) and the Division of General Internal Medicine (as a member of the core health services research faculty). Dr. Goyal has a specific interest in caring for older adults with heart failure, especially heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (a subtype of heart failure that disproportionately affects older adults). In 2018, Dr. Goyal founded (and currently serves as Director for) the Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF) Program at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York-Presbyterian Hospital, which represents one of just a few programs across the country dedicated to HFpEF. Dr. Goyal is also the Director of the Cardiac Amyloidosis Program at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York-Presbyterian Hospital.Dr. Goyal has also been very active in research. He has led studies published in high-impact journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, and Journal of the American College of Cardiology; and has received significant extramural funding including research grants from the National Institute on Aging, the American Heart Association, and the New York Community Trust. In August 2020, Dr. Goyal received the Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award in Aging (K76) to develop and test a patient-centered strategy for deprescribing in heart failure.Dr. Goyal is also an active member of the American College of Cardiology, where he currently serves as the Chair of the Geriatric Cardiology Early Career Professionals Working Group; he Co-Chairs the Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS) Heart Failure Working Group; and sits on the Editorial Board for the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society and serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Cardiac Failure.Dr. Goyal has a growing research program which is funded by the National Institute on Aging, the American Heart Association, and the New York Community Trust. Biography: Dr. Shmuel Chen is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He specializes in interventional cardiology including the treatment of coronary and structural heart disease.Dr. Chen received his medical degree from The Hebrew University School of Medicine (Jerusalem, Israel) as well as a PhD in Neurobiology from the Hebrew University School of Medicine. He completed his training in internal medicine and cardiology at the Hebrew University, Hadassah Medical Center (Jerusalem, Israel), where he also served as a Staff Cardiologist and a Lecturer in Cardiology. He subsequently moved to New York City and dedicated over 2 years to a prestigious research fellowship at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF). During this time, he worked towards designing and undertaking cutting-edge clinical trials and research in interventional cardiology. He has lead and extensively contributed to a number of projects and studies, exploring all aspects of cardiovascular and structural heart disease. These works have been published in leading medical journals in the field. After this focused research time, Dr. Chen joined The Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (New York, NY) for a two-year interventional cardiology fellowship program in July 2019. He gained specialty training in coronary interventions and strcutrual heart disease including aortic, mitral, tricuspid, paravalvular leak, patent foramen ovale (PFO), and left atrial appendage procedures. He joined the Weill Cornell Medical Center in September 2021 for another year of advanced structural heart training and served as an Instructor in Medicine.

Biography: Oksana Lekarev, DO is the Associate Medical Director of the Comprehensive Care Center for Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) at Weill Cornell Medicine, the first multi-disciplinary center of excellence in the United States dedicated to patients with CAH. She is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and Assistant Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Lekarev is board certified in Pediatric Endocrinology and Pediatrics. Dr. Lekarev received a BA in Linguistics from Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City, graduating cum laude and with departmental honors. She received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry - School of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Internship in Pediatrics at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center and went on to complete her Residency in Pediatrics at Tufts-New England Medical Center. Dr. Lekarev then moved back to New York City where she completed a fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She remained at Mount Sinai for two more years as a faculty member in the Division of Adrenal Steroid Disorders, where she was actively involved in research, clinical practice and medical education. In addition to her expertise in CAH and adrenal steroid disorders, Dr. Lekarev's areas of interest include disorders of growth, disorders of pubertal and sexual development, and thyroid disease. She has published a number of original and review articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at national and international meetings.
