Biography: If there's any physician intimately familiar with the power of southern hospitality, it's Dr. Parra. Through his 11 years of practice in Urology, Dr. Parra understands the root of exceptional care is treating patients like family. In fact, with every patient he asks himself: ``What would I do if it were my family member?`` It's this level of understanding and empathy that creates long-lasting relationships with all he meets and treats. Dr. Parra brings to the Woodlands Medical Specialists a high-energy approach to care that he takes very seriously. His areas of special interest include minimally invasive surgery/laparoscopy, advanced endoscopic surgery and the use of the da Vinci Robotic system. Dr. Parra is one of our experienced robotic surgeons. Dr. Parra, a native of Louisiana, earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical School and completed his residency at the Louisiana State Medical Center in Shreveport. Outside the office he enjoys hunting, fishing, SEC sports, community involvement and cherishing time with his family. He is board certified in the practice of urology.

Biography: Umar Karaman, M.D. was raised in Panama City, Florida and has returned to join the Advanced Urology Institute. After he earned his bachelor's degree with honors in Human Nutrition at the University of Florida, he graduated from Florida State University College of Medicine in 2013 where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Upon completion of his internship in general surgery, Dr. Karaman trained in urologic surgery for four years at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He served as chief resident in his final year and was awarded the "Outstanding House Officer Award" from across all other residency programs at the LSU Health Sciences Center. Dr. Karaman is trained in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery to treat benign and malignant conditions of the genitourinary system. He is skilled at performing minimally invasive surgeries for kidney stones and developing strategies to help prevent their formation. In addition, he is experienced in treating patients with various urinary complaints including urinary tract infections, overactive bladder and urinary incontinence. An advocate for Men's Health, he provides high quality care for prostate enlargement, erectile dysfunction, and low testosterone. He has written several publications in peer reviewed journals, papers and multiple book chapters on issues including: surgical treatment of female stress urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, OAB, BPH and testicular cancer. He has presented research at both regional and national meetings.

Biography: Jessica Wise, MD is specialized and board-certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at HCA Florida Fort Walton Beach General Surgery. Dr. Wise completed a residency at Sunrise Health Consortium in Las Vegas, Nevada and completed her fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Orlando Health Regional Medical Center. She is originally from Reno, Nevada and came to Florida to complete her fellowship training and fell in love with the state.
