Care Philosophy: The Shettle family has been providing personal quality eye care in Pinellas County since 1972. This tradition of providing excellent comprehensive medical and surgical eye care to the community is carried on today by Dr. Lee Shettle, who has been practicing as a Board Certified Ophthalmologist in Largo since 1994. Dr. Shettle is a true native of Pinellas County, having grown up in Clearwater and then graduating from the first complete class at Pinellas Park High School in 1980. He earned his B.S. degree in Biology at Truman State University and graduated from medical school in Kirksville, Missouri in 1988. Dr. Lee Shettle performed his three year Ophthalmology residency in Detroit, Michigan, in addition to completing a one year fellowship in Cataract and Refractive Surgery in Denver, Colorado and a one year fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. Dr. Shettle is an Assistant Clinical Professor at both NOVA Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in South Florida and Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, Pinellas County Osteopathic Medical Society, Florida Osteopathic Association and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He received the Presidential Achievement Award from the A.O.C.O.O. in addition to being voted Physician of the Year by the Pinellas County Osteopathic Medical Society in 2006. Dr. Lee Shettle is actively involved in his local, state and national medical organizations in order to stay current with all the rules and regulations that affect the practice of medicine and ultimately patient care. He is certified by the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Shettle also enjoys teaching interns, residents and fellows in various medical specialties in his office to help these young physicians understand the ocular manifestations of systemic disease so they can then diagnose, treat and then teach future physicians as well. He also has a great interest in giving lectures to fellow physicians at both the local, state and national level. Dr. Shettle is married with two children and enjoys spending time playing and watching them play various sports. Website: www.leeshettleeye.com
