Concerning & Confusing Experience
After visiting the ER due to an accident that lacerated my eye I was referred to Dr. H. He saw me promptly. He removed debris from my eye and recommended surgery to repair the damage. He scheduled the surgery at a local surgery center for that afternoon. I called the center prior to my departure and confirmed the time, place, etc. I arrived promptly. Within 30 minutes I was told the surgery was canceled and now rescheduled the next day at one of his office locations. Consider that in the ER, had my “eye Globe” been damaged I would have needed emergency surgery that night. Now it was “a fifteen minute” surgery the next day under anesthesia. Suddenly it’s surgery 24 hours later in an office under local anesthesia. This was too concerning and confusing for me. I decided to cancel and seek a second opinion. I felt Dr. H gave sound advice to the ER Dr. and I appreciated the first appointment at his office the next day. Unfortunately, in the end, I lost confidence in the need for surgery.

Excellent Cataract Surgery
I have 20-20 vision for the first time in half a century. Dr. Hegleh explained things clearly and gently, and there was no pain at all. Highest rating.

Very Happy
Was recommended to Dr. Hegleh from my primary physician and am very happy in my decision to have the cataract surgery on both eyes. I had been to a couple of other cataract doctors but felt like I was just a number to them, and I was looking for a doctor that was not part of a large network. Had the surgery and now do not need glasses which is a welcome relief.

Had problems with my vision. Dr Hegleh was recommended to me. His thorough examination disclosed both cataracts and astigmatism in both eyes. After ultra sound and measurements, he operated on my right eye. I saw the difference immediately. Will be having my left eye done shortly. Dr Hegleh is very knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend him to anyone.

Very rude doctor
Dr. Hegleh spent most of my appointment berating his poor office staff. He also was grumpy with me because I moved my chin during the test. I think he is a good doctor but the attitude was very off putting. There is no reason to yell at staff in front of patients ever! Also my appointment was over 2 hours long mostly waiting around which is unacceptable! Time is money and you need to respect our time too!

I can see!
Having seen other opthamologists in SRQ who missed my astigmatisms, (yes, they did), I found Dr. Hegleh in my insurance plan and scheduled, figuring, how bad could it be. He is absolutely on point with my prescription, he educated me with every step about the deterioration of my eyesight and the next step. When I discussed Lasik, he told me to save my money and time, the cataract surgery wasn't too far off, and showed me what he was explaining. When my glasses came in I could see again. That's what I look for in a Dr., one who fixes what ails me, and lets me get on with my day.

I had cataract surgery on both eyes
At first I thought hegley was a great surgeon for a number of years till he did surgery on me for cataract on both eyes. It’s been 4 to 5 years now since then immediately and gradually I’m not getting the eyesight he promised. I didn’t skimp on the quality or price, it was supposed to be the best money can buy. The man uses every excuse to shame me so I don’t complain. I’m losing my eyesight and living with it because of his workmanship. He’s a bad person overall.

5 Star Review. July 21, 2021 . Dr. Hegleh performed eye surgery with personal care and attention to detail in the out patient Surgical Center at SMH. HIs Clinical experience and delivery resulted in a positive procedure and post op results. He delivered exactly what he described in a pre op office visit. His Interactions with procedure room members were calm, responsive, and all delivered excellent patient care.

Dr Hegleh may well know his stuff, but he is too argumentative and too judgmental for me. His staff is very nice, he needs to learn that from them.

Awful doctor. Rude, arrogant,& extremely unprofessional. There are far better ophthalmologists in our area than this man. Expect to wait half the day listening to him verbally abuse his entire staff-mostly women. Very hostile uncomfortable environment.

Sub-standard care: dirty dingy waiting room (I could hear doctor /staff conversing for 45 minutes discussing non-medical stuff) while I waited, tremendous indifference to patients waiting; i.e., staff told me they don’t start calling patients until 9:00 and then call patients in who signed in first even bumping patients who had earlier appointments, there is no infection control rooms are dingy, they don’t wipe down equipment before resting my face on them, outdated equipment, lastly doctor recommended I have cataract surgery when I did not meet Medicare criteria for surgery according to another facility. I have switched facilities and doctor.

A very bad experience for being the first time visit. He was rude to my wife and myself. My wife and i came in 20 min earlier than we were supposed too for our appointment like they asked and he said you could not come any earlier I'm going to be late to my surgery. Did not care about us just care about being late for surgery. Very confused because the office gave us the time to be there and make his schedule. He was very very nasty to his staff in front of us. Then we were charge a extra fee.
