It was great to serve as a military field surgeon before entering my residency at Fitzsimmons hospital. One can still feel a little altruism about serving our country.

Every patient deserves the direct attention and examination by their physician, not just by a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant. My staff and I work hard to limit waiting times to 30 minutes or less. We try to make your visit as comfortable and professional as possible. I review the results of the examination, xrays, and other studies, etc., with the patient and do everything I can to help them understand their condition and the treatment options I recommend. Good decisions are the result of shared knowledge and mutual respect. Good decisions lead to good results.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Maa believes that treating patients with epilepsy begins by learning a patient's history and understanding how epilepsy has impacted different aspects of life. This approach provides a better understanding of how to integrate medication therapy, support services, surgical interventions, and clinical trials most effectively.

An accurate diagnosis and a specific treatment plan, which may include physical or other manual therapies, medication or injection therapy, consideration of surgery, and always includes patient education, are key. The ultimate goal is not only pain relief, but also the empowerment of patients with the knowledge and self care programs to manage their spine and other conditions over a lifetime.
