Biography: Tyler Ford, MD, is a gynecologic oncologist with Virginia Gynecologic Oncology , part of the Sarah Cannon Cancer Network at Henrico Doctors' Hospital. Dr. Ford received his undergraduate degree in behavioral science and health before going on to complete his master's degree in public health from the University of Utah. He earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y.Upon completion, Dr. Ford joined the faculty in the department of obstetrics and gynecology and women's health as a clinical instructor while maintaining his appointment as clinical instructor. He completed his gynecologic oncology fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. Care Philosophy: Becoming a surgeon is often a difficult path, but for me, I chose to become a surgeon because of the ability to help patients feel better. As a surgeon we can often have an immediate impact on having patients feel better. My philosophy of care is to take individualized approach to each patient. I believe the key to a good physician and patient relationship is both education and communication. I strive for both with each patient and success will often follow. Outside of work my family and I enjoy the beach and relaxing at home. Having three girls shopping, movies, and extracurricular activities take up a lot of our down time.

Biography: David Bettinger, MD, is a general surgeon with Surgical Associates of Richmond. He was born in upstate New York and grew up in Richmond, Virginia. He graduated cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and then continued with a Masters in Biology, receiving the Phi Sigma Research Scholarship and working as a graduate teaching assistant. During Dr. Bettinger's medical school tenure at VCU Health's Medical College of Virginia, he received the Carnation Scholarship, and was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha, Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Sigma Chi Honorary Leadership Society, Sigma Zeta Honorary Science Society, and performed basic science research. Dr. Bettinger has presented before the Surgical Forum of the American College of Surgeons, the Virginia Academy of Science, the American Burn Association, and the Plastic Surgery Research Council. He was President of the Virginia Surgical Society in 2008. Dr. Bettinger is also a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, having served with the US Army Medical Units. When he joined SAR in 1996, he brought advanced laparoscopic training and ability, and he has been a proponent of laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication for acid reflux disease and laparoscopic adrenalectomy. She completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Boston University with Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. She then went on to earn a Master of Science in Clinical Research at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health and completed fellowship training in gynecologic oncology with University of Minnesota Medical School. Prior to medical school, she also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychobiology from Mills College in Oakland, California. Dr. Carter is dual board certified in Gynecologic Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Carter specializes in providing comprehensive cancer care for women who have been diagnosed with cancers of the cervix, ovaries, uterus, vagina, vulva, and endometrium. She has been published for her numerous research studies on gynecologic cancers. Dr. Carter is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, and American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Biography: Kenneth Brown, MD, FACS, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained surgeon with Richmond Surgical Associates in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Brown earned his medical degree at University of Virginia Medical School in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he also enjoyed a one-year research fellowship. He then went on to complete his residency training in general surgery and fellowship training in transplant surgery at the Medical College of Virginia, now VCU Health, where he served as chief resident. He also received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Bachelor of Science in Biology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts.Dr. Brown is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and is affiliated with Henrico Doctors' Hospital and the Virginia Transplant Center. He has more than three decades of medical expertise specializing in general surgery, transplant surgery, and vascular surgery. He utilizes a wide breadth of practice helping his patients with both simple and complex problems and those in between.
