Care Philosophy: I have been in active practice in General Surgery since 1986, with a special interest in Breast and Oncologic surgery. This includes surgery for melanoma, sarcoma, thyroid and parathyroid, and laparoscopic and robotic procedures. I am committed to resident education, and I have been a Staten Island resident since 1987, with strong ties to the local community.

Care Philosophy: Certified by the American Board of Surgery and National Board of Medical Examiners, Dr. Lieberman utilizes the latest innovations in surgical techniques--including minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures--to minimize patient discomfort and promote recovery from surgical procedures. He performs laparoscopic procedures on the colon, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, spleen, and stomach.

Biography: I practice general surgery with an emphasis in the use of minimally invasive means. My practice areas include diseases of the gastrointestinal system, treating both functional disorders such as obstructions, hernias, GERD, gallstones diverticulitis as well as abdominal infections and cancers. I approach all procedures with minimally invasive methods whenever possible, utilizing robotic, laparoscopic and endoscopy to treat diseases such as gallstones, bile duct stones, colon cancer, appendicitis, hernias and many others. Additionally I treat conditions requiring emergency surgery including perforations of the intestines, trauma and intra-abdominal infections. My practice focus is predominantly gastrointestinal diseases and hernias including hiatal hernias and paraesophageal hernias.
