He's experienced at performing robotic whipple, robotic distal pancreatectomy, robotic colectomy and robotic liver resections. In addition to Dr Malafa's time in the clinic and operating room, he continues to work in research and is a Senior Member in the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology and the Chemical Biology and Molecular Medicine Program at Moffitt. He is the Section Chief for the Breast Radiotherapy Service at Moffitt Cancer Center. He is also the Program Director for the Advanced Radiation Oncology Research Fellowship.
