Biography: Dr. Lada attended Medical School at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio with a Fellowship in NeuroIntensive Care at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He is Board Certified in Neurology in addition to Sleep Medicine and Vascular Neurology. He remains passionate about stroke prevention and caring for patients along the continuum of emergent and acute care of cerebrovascular injuries. Educating patients and physicians about Neurology has always been an important part of his daily practice. After completing his training, he served as the Director of Cerebrovascular Medicine in the Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio for 10 years. With enthusiasm and a vision to serve communities in need of his subspecialty, Dr. Lada moved to Alaska with his wife and four children in 2008. Here, he accepted the position as Medical Director of Neuroscience Services at Providence Alaska Medical Center and continues in this role currently. He has worked tirelessly to further advance the delivery of emergency treatments for stroke patients by developing the Telestroke program that now reaches numerous communities throughout the state of Alaska. He continues to provide education for practicing physicians through regular lecture series and enjoys teaching medical students at the WWAMI School of Medicine on the campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage. Desiring better neurologic care for all Alaskans, he spearheaded the development of PEAK Neurology and Sleep Medicine in 2014 and is a founding partner. He also serves as Medical Director of their Sleep Lab. In addition to seeing patients who have experienced strokes, he continues to enjoy his practice of general neurology and sleep medicine.

Biography: Alan Swenson, MD was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and he is happy to be back home, providing care to his fellow Alaskans. He is a fellowship trained hand and microvascular surgeon. He pursued this specialty for its complexity and the depth and breadth of the field. Dr. Swenson says the best part of his job, though, ``is getting people back to the lives and activities they love.`` He is also an ardent supporter of community and medical education. He believes that the better educated patients and providers are, the better they can work together to achieve their shared goals. Growing up in Anchorage, Dr. Swenson was a stand out at both Stellar Secondary School and the Alaska Pacific University Early Honors program. He earned his Eagle Scout and went on to study biology at Brigham Young University–Hawaii, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He later attended the Alaska WWAMI program and earned his doctorate of medicine, with AOA Honors, from the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Swenson chose to remain in Washington to complete a 5 year orthopedic surgery residency program focusing on trauma and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. There he was able to train at numerous institutions, including the world famous Harborview Medical Center, under some of the most respected orthopedic surgeons of their field. Dr. Swenson excelled in his residency training and was selected to complete a surgical fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the University of Cincinnati. There he spent an entire year focusing solely on disorders of the hand and upper extremity under the renowned hand surgeon, Peter Stern, MD. Since finishing his formal training, Dr. Swenson has continued his academic pursuits. He continues to be involved in cutting edge research at both the University of Cincinnati and the University of Washington. He is also passionate about both patient and provider education. He has recently taken on the role of Medical Director of Continuing Medical Education for the Providence Alaska system and acts as a preceptor to medical students, physician assistants, and medical residents. Dr. Swenson continuously works to ensure that all patients in Alaska will have access to the most up to date treatments and care available. Biography: Dr. Haughom is a fellowship-trained hip and knee surgeon, focusing on complex hip & knee reconstructions as well as total hip and knee replacements. A dedicated and well-published researcher, he stays at the forefront minimally invasive, muscle-sparing techniques that help patients recover faster and experience less pain. He is devoted to his patients' well-being and always explores non-surgical treatments first. If surgery is indicated, he has the ability to perform different kinds of surgeries – each customized to best fit the patient's lifestyle and specific musculoskeletal structure. Dr. Haughom graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science. His subsequent IT positions were in the healthtech industry, where he helped companies provide faster, cheaper, more accessible care. But he felt compelled to do more and to provide direct care. He enrolled in medical school at the University of California San Francisco and went on to complete his internship and orthopedic residency at the renowned Rush University in Chicago, Ill. He then completed a fellowship in Adult Joint Reconstruction from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. He and his wife came to Alaska in 2017 and knew immediately it would be the place they would make their home. In November of 2020, he took the opportunity to join OPA and today is a vital member of its joint replacement team.
