I'm especially interested in benign complex gyn problems such as pelvic pain, endometriosis, large fibroids, hysterectomy, pelvic prolapse, and uterine bleeding problems. 99% of the surgeries I have performed in the past 4 years have been successfully completed through small incisions, with no major complications. In order to be able to offer minimally invasive surgical options to more women, I retired from delivering babies in April of 2014 and found the San Antonio area's first dedicated MIGS practice, Virtuosa Gyn. Biography: James E. Mark, MD is a gynecologic surgical oncologist with the START Center. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He then completed an internship in obstetrics and gynecology at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland; a residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas; and clinical and research fellowships in gynecologic oncology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida.Dr. Mark served as chief of gynecologic oncology and medical director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Dr. Mark retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel.
