Biography: Dr. David Phillips received his medical degree in 1988 from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio. Afterwards, he completed his Urology Residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio Affiliated Hospitals. During his residency, Dr. Phillips serviced as Chief Resident from July 1993 – June 1994. Dr. Phillips has over 20 years experience as a urologist. Within our practice, he has pioneered the use of innovative treatments for patients with advancing prostate cancer. Along with his colleagues, Dr. Vic Desireddi and Dr. Richard Garza, Dr. Phillips serves as part of Urology Austin's Advancing Prostate Cancer Care Team. This team manages patients with prostate cancer recurrence after initial local therapy such as robotic prostatectomy or radiation. Care approaches include newer medical oncolytics (Xtandi, Zytiga, and Erleada) and immunotherapies (Provenge). Dr. Phillips has been recognized as a ``Top Doctor`` under the category of Urology in the January 2019 edition of Austin Monthly Magazine. He also received this designation in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018. In addition, he was named a 'Super Doctor' by Texas Monthly Magazine from 2005 through 2019.
