Care Philosophy: Bradley S. Baker, M.D., joined Nevada Orthopedic & Spine Center in 2010. He is uniquely double-board certified in orthopedic surgery and in the subspecialty of orthopedic sports medicine. Dr. Baker is the only Nevada Orthopedic & Spine Center physician with this distinction. Dr. Baker applies his experience as a team physician and medical supervisor for many athletic organizations at all levels in the care of competitive and recreational athletes and non-athletes with a special focus on shoulder or knee problems. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in biology and chemistry from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kansas - Wichita, Dr. Baker pursued an additional year of specialized fellowship training in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the Taos Orthopedic Institute in New Mexico where he worked with the United States Ski and Snowboard Team medical staff. After completing his medical training, Dr. Baker practiced in Sioux Falls, SD, as an orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of knee, shoulder, sports injuries and fractures while serving as team physician for several professional, collegiate and high school sports teams and organizations. While in Sioux Falls, Dr. Baker™s experience in his field extended to the academic work as he has served as a clinical professor at the medical school, provided orthopedic care for the Level II trauma center hospital and was an integral part of building a respected sports medicine program. Dr. Baker spent several years in a small, specialized practice in Arizona before joining the Nevada Orthopedic & Spine Center team. He is originally from Fargo, ND.

Care Philosophy: Edward S. Ashman, M.D., joined Nevada Orthopedic & Spine Center in 2003. He is fellowship trained in the surgical treatment of athletic injuries of the shoulder, knee and elbow. He is currently on faculty as an assistant professor at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Dr. Ashman received a Bachelor of Science in 1992 from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He attended New York™s Albany Medical College where he received his doctor of medicine in 1997. He completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Albany Medical Center. In 2003, Dr. Ashman completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Nirschl Sports Clinic at Georgetown Medical Center in Washington, D.C., under the guidance of the renowned Dr. Robert P. Nirschl. During this fellowship, Dr. Ashman served as a team physician for the George Mason University football and basketball teams. Dr. Ashman practices at the highest level of sports medicine having treated many professional athletes including members of the ATP professional tennis tour and the AVP professional beach volleyball tour. He regularly provides care for performers in many of the largest and most popular shows on the Las Vegas Strip, including Cirque Du Soleil productions. Dr. Ashman was born in Johnson City, NY.

Biography: Dr. Steven Nishiyama is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacements as well as revision surgery. Although Dr. Nishiyama was born in Hawaii and raised in California, he has called Las Vegas home for over 10 years. He completed both his medical education and surgical training in Las Vegas and takes great pride in serving the Las Vegas community. Dr. Nishiyama brings extensive experience in minimally invasive techniques, including direct anterior approach hip replacement and partial knee replacement. He is well-versed in using patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) and computer- and robotic-assisted joint replacement surgeries. Dr. Nishiyama is also trained in rapid recovery techniques and strives to apply these principles in all surgeries he performs. Dr. Nishiyama received an undergraduate degree from the University of California San Diego (UCSD). He went on to receive a master's degree from UCSD, and subsequently, he went on to achieve a Ph.D. in physiology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. In that time, he published more than 25 research articles and presented his research at various national and international meetings. After deciding to pursue a greater calling to serve others, Dr. Nishiyama attended medical school at Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine in Henderson, Nevada, graduating in the top 10 percent of his class. Dr. Nishiyama was also selected for the Sigma Sigma Phi Honorary Osteopathic Honor Society. He went on to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency at Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, where he was elected chief resident during his senior year. Dr. Nishiyama completed a fellowship year of subspecialty training in adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, receiving experience in both primary and complex revision hip and knee surgeries. Dr. Nishiyama takes great pride in caring for his patients. One of his greatest joys is seeing the quality of life resurrected in his patients from his surgeries. He values shared decision-making with his patients and cherishes the physician-patient relationship. He and his wife have two wonderful daughters, and they love everything about Las Vegas. He is a former collegiate athlete as a swimmer at UCSD and loves keeping an active lifestyle. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, surfing, running, road cycling, cooking, and spending time with his family.
