Biography: Travis Austin Doering, MD, received his undergraduate education from Amherst College with a bachelor of the arts in biology and computer science. Prior to attending medical school, he performed two years of immunology research at the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on bioinformatics.Dr. Doering received his medical degree from the Barbara and Donald Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University in 2015, graduating with a distinction in research, and completed his internship in general surgery (2016) and four-year residency in orthopedic surgery (2020) at Northwell Health, where he served his final year as chief resident.During his residency, Dr. Doering earned several accolades including Resident of the Year in 2017. After his residency, Dr. Doering completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at the prestigious Campbell Clinic at the University of Tennessee HSC.Dr. Doering specializes in the operative and nonoperative management of hand and upper extremity disorders, including traumatic conditions, arthritis, and sports-related conditions. He has special interests in upper extremity fracture care, shoulder arthritis, tendon and nerve repairs, carpal tunnel and other nerve compression syndromes, and reconstructive surgery of the hand. He has additional interests in the arthroscopic management of many wrist and shoulder conditions, including injuries to the labrum, rotator cuff, and triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) in the wrist.Dr. Doering is an active member of the medical staff at St. David's hospitals as well as with clinic locations in South Austin, Bastrop, and San Marcos. Dr. Doering has produced multiple publications, including textbook chapters, review articles, and peer-reviewed journal articles on a wide range of orthopedic conditions. His research has been presented at the national meetings of several orthopedic societies. Biography: Dr. Greg Westmoreland is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship trained Sports Medicine specialist in South and Northwest Austin. He specializes in treating shoulders and knees in addition to general orthopedics. Dr. Westmoreland grew up in the Houston area and graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Baylor University with a degree in Biology. Dr. Westmoreland attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, graduating first in his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Honor Society, an honor recognizing those who have graduated in the top 10% of their medical school class. Dr. Westmoreland completed his orthopedic residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000. Training at Grady Memorial Hospital, a level one trauma center, he gained vast experience in all types of orthopedic fractures and learned valuable lessons in the conservative treatment of orthopedic problems. In 2001 Dr. Westmoreland completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic where he served as one of the team physicians for the University of Tennessee. His fellowship training focused on arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee problems, as well as shoulder and knee replacement for arthritic conditions. Dr. Westmoreland always considers a conservative approach to treatment first. His goal is to return the patient back to the level of activity they desire. If surgery is necessary, Dr. Westmoreland recognizes the trust a patient must place in him , and he takes great care in walking each patient through the entire process, from pre-operative evaluation through post-operative recovery.
