Biography: Hunter M. Ray, M.D. is a vascular surgeon who joined HCA Houston Healthcare and helped found Gulf Coast Vascular in August of 2020. Dr. Ray has an academic affiliation with the University of Houston's new medical school. Dr Ray earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. He completed his medical degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). While completing his medical degree he discovered Vascular Surgery as a specialty and quickly fell in love with the field. Dr. Ray went on to complete his vascular surgery training in Houston at UTHealth. During training he was fortunate to win the coveted S. Timothy String Presidential Award for the best paper at the 2016 meeting of the Southern Associated for Vascular Surgery (SAVS) as well as the Top Gun Surgical Skills Competition at the 2020 SAVS Meeting. Dr. Ray has authored multiple peer reviewed publications and book chapters and has a continued interest in research. He has been invited to speak at various national and international conferences. In addition, Dr. Ray holds candidate membership with the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, Society for Vascular Surgery and the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society, along with active membership in the American Venous Forum. Clinically he specializes in advanced endovascular and open surgery. He also has extensive experience in the treatment of venous disease. As native Houstonians, Dr. Ray and his wife love the city for its people, culture, and most of all the amazing food. Outside of work Dr. Ray loves to golf, fish, and BBQ. Dr. Ray welcomes new patients and referrals. The practice offers telehealth visits when appropriate.
