Dr. Sean Esmende, MD

Dr. Esmende is a very compassionate physician and explains every detail of your condition and surgery with you. He welcomes bringing questions to appointments and patiently answers each one in detail without making you feel rushed or invisible. He is an excellent surgeon and has helped me go from being almost immobile to a pain free lifestyle. In addition, his team is outstanding, and all are very personable. Lauren, who is his assistant, is excellent!! She has been so kind and helpful with anything needed. I have read some reviews, but waiting for a doctor and team that takes your care with the upmost importance is worth waiting a few minutes. In the end the results are amazing!! Thank you to Dr. Esmende and his team.

Very rushed visits when I asked Lauren why she gave me attitude and said it’s office policy to Triple and Quadruple book all appointments! Good luck trying to reach the office! The receptionists and medical assistant are very rude.

Before and after my 4th visit, Dr thought I was a new patient. He never even reviewed my chart and asked me the same questions from my 1st visit. From prior visits and X-rays he had said he had concerns after reviewing them. It changed to he can’t do anything for me. Said he is a surgeon and I’m going to the wrong doctor. All very rushed.

I was fortunate to have Dr. Esmende for 3 complicated back surgeries. He came up with a plan to correct several issues with my back and I am so grateful to him for outstanding results, leaving me in a much better position than prior to surgery. He is kind, patient and very skilled. His MEA, Lauren Corriveau, is such an efficient and competent compliment to him, always helpful, knowledgeable and compassionate. I could not be happier with them. THANK YOU!!

I recommend Dr. Esmende completely. He is the best surgeon I have ever met and been treated by and I have been in the medical field for 40 years. From day 1 he has been compassionate ,explained completely pre and post expectations, respectful and so on. There were no surprises. My spinal fusion surgery went as planned.

Dr. Esmende is a knowledgeable , caring and kind doctor. He always took his time to answer and explain all the questions that my daughter and I had before my surgery.

Dr. Esmende was exceptionally helpful, patient answering all of my questions. He carefully explained everything about my surgery and he and everyone in his office was great-easy to talk to, very competent and made a difficult experience much easier.

Dr Esmende listens and is open to suggestions. Shows great patience and respect during discussions. His receptionist is an example of how all receptions should be modeled after. I would recommend him them to any and everyone.

Dr. Esmende has performed three different procedures on my spine. He did a wonderful job of explaining what to expect.

Dr. Esmende and his staff were wonderful from the first visit. They were all very attentive and very caring; from the office visit to the surgery and the hospital stay. Not one complaint. I would highly recommend him.

Whole process was great. Dr Esmende was very thorough in his explanation of what to expect before and after surgery, and he was spot on. Prior to surgery, I couldn’t walk .5 miles without searing nerve pain down my legs. Been exactly 3 months to the day, and I walked around Universal Studios this weekend (8.06 miles) pain free, what a difference. Bone and Joint institute was great. The only negative I can think of was the home nurse and PT visits after surgery - don’t waste your money. They were very nice but basically did nothing and are expensive. Follow doctors orders and you will be fine. I’m in outpatient PT now and that is helping with flexibility. If you are in pain and hesitating - don’t! This was life changing!! Thanks Dr. Esmende!!!

Every time I went for a visit I was always treated with care, respect and friendly professionalism. Dr. Esmende has the patience of a Saint, explaining everything that will happen before, during and after my complex spinal fusion surgery which was a two part surgery done in one week. I absolutely Loved that I was able to walk and move around right after both of my surgeries. He outlined my X-rays to me and my family members and encouraged me to bring whomever I felt was crucial to helping me with my recovery. The Bone & Joint staff were All Phenomenal as well, everyone was courteous, professional, friendly and patient. The staff that took care of the room and the food servers & repairers introduced theirselves when they entered or answered the phone and always showed concern and professionalism. All the staff carried theirselves to the highest degree along with the doctors. I Will Definitely Let Everyone Know How Good of A Doctor Dr. Esmende is and the people who works with him.

Dr. Esmende performed complex back surgery on me that included bone grafts and spinal fusions. I was severely incapacitated before the surgery. He used a robot to help him precisely position the pins in my spine. The results were amazing. Recovery was uncomfortable but not too bad, considering the extent of my problems. Two years later, I have no pain and no limitations. He was very caring and his staff was wonderful. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. The surgery changed my life.

I have had two back surgeries by Dr. Esmende on two different parts of my back. In both cases, the results were immediate when I woke up from surgery. No pain, no numbness. I recommend him highly.

Excellent experience. He performed surgery on my cervical spine and all the pain I was experiencing before is gone. Dr. Esmende has a great bedside manner and his entire staff was wonderful. I highly recommend him.

Extremely long waiting time, I sat in his office for over an hour. Thirty minutes in the exam room. The doctor would not let me talk or ask questions. Doctor was abrupt and rude stating “ I can’t do surgery for everyone in pain other wise I would be doing surgery 24/7. The ironic part was I never even mentioned surgery. If this doctor listened he would learn that I had done many of the things he was talking about many times over. Apparently pain is not enough of a criteria for him to do anything to fix it. If you like long waits, a know it all type doctor who has a hard time listening, then this doctor is for you. I believe you can do better and would not recommend this doctor to anyone.

I couldn't imagine a more positive overall patient experience than the one I had with Dr. Esmende. After a few years of intense sciatic pain and tingling in my feet, I have been pain free and fully able to resume my active lifestyle since my procedure (laminectomy and L4-L5 fusion) in April 2019. Dr. Esmende took the time to understand not just my condition, but me as a patient and the outcome I was seeking. He clearly diagnosed and articulated the issue that was causing my pain. We pursued less invasive options first, including PT and injections, but when those proved unsuccessful, he helped me feel comfortable heading into surgery. As an office manager, Lauren is delightful and does an excellent job setting expectations and guiding through the process. The care at the Bone & Joint Institute is top notch. Waits can occasionally be long, but well worth it as you know Dr. Esmende is spending the time needed with all his patients. Highly recommended! Thank you!
