Dr. Lucy Shen, MD

I saw Dr Shen earlier this year (2022), when she told me I needed cataract surgery (with trabectome). Although my cataract was very rudimentary, Dr Shen convinced me that, given a problem with exfoliation, I should have it excised earlier rather than later. Sadly, I didn't get a second opinion. Cataract extraction was performed, and left me with a blurred vision in my left eye. Dr Shen initially dismissed that as "part of the healing process." Subsequently she diagnosed me with a macular edema--a complication from cataract surgery. She became defensive and "blamed" me for causing the edema by doing some light exercise. My vision is still blurry. The retina specialist I'm seeing now has told me the surgery was likely premature. Consumer of eye care, beware.

I have been going to Dr Shen for approximately 10 years. Although I recently relocated to Arizona I see her annually. I travel to Boston to receive Dr Shen’s expert advice and treatment.

Spends little time with you. OVERLOADED with patients and the wait has been up to 2-3 hours! Unacceptable.
