I had the honor, no, the PRIVILEGE to have surgery by Dr. Jean- Louis Caron. Dr. Caron is VERY knowledgeable, marvelous, admirable & I couldn't recommend him more. I was scheduled for a cranioplasty but that was when COVID happened but as soon as a slot was open he scheduled my surgery. I had suffered a major stroke which had left me paralyzed from my right side, aphasia & other cognitive issues (not from the surgery that Dr. Caron performed) and he was able to "fix" me. I couldn't thank him enough. I was so sad to hear he's retiring!! And the whole team of Neurosurgery at UT Health, especially Sarah Cordell <3 I couldn't thank her enough!

I fired him before surgery because he moved my surgery date to fit someone in. The surgery needed to be done ASAP , but he was going to make me wait another week! I’m so happy I fired him.

My son had aneurysm surgery in 1999 by a neurosurgeon out of state and we were told to find someone in TX who would give good followup care. We thought we had that in this Dr. We were wrong. He always gave my son a poor prognosis. In 2015 my son developed another aneurysm and sadly he passed. Dr. Caron never called us or came to the hospital. The out of state surgeon said something could have been done to save him but it was now too late. Please don't choose this dr.

I was referred to Dr. Caron for a muscle biopsy to determine which inflammatory muscular dystrophy I have. There are 3, 2 are treatable and 1 does not respond to treatment. In our consultation he said that he would be taking 4 or 5 samples. 2 days before my surgery he had his office call to reschedule and rescheduled for a day that I knew was completely booked. So the day of surgery he only takes 1 sample. Other than confirming what we already knew, the results were inconclusive.

Dr. Caron is one of the best doctors I have ever had. He explained every procedure I needed and followed up--even long after business hours. He has always been very patient and I have never seen him upset or in anything but a great mood. I would recommend him to any of my friends.

He seemed to just want to cut my spine to make money. Did not dictate notes of my consult nor cared not of my condition.

Did my surgery and went on vacation and I was left with a CSF lumbar drain for 19 days. He didn't communicate with other doctors so I was left possible lifelong migraines.
