Dr Bruno is Excellent.
He zeroed in with exactly where my back pain was and what was needed to resolve it. He listens well and gives feedback. Very pleasant doctor. Performed my surgery and followed up with me.

Proven successful!
My husband had two surgeries done by Dr. Bruner so when I needed one I looked him up. He was able to see me relatively quickly and then got me into Surgery for L4-5 perineal nerve impingement . He is very personal, takes his time in explaining what needs to be done and I have had success post-op.

Absolutely amazing!
I was referred to Advanced Neurosurgery for an L5/S1 issue and Dr. Bruner saw me the same day, despite me not having an appointment with him yet. He was so kind and helpful and walked me through the surgery and recovery process multiple times. It's hard to find a doctor that you get along with and that is willing to explain things to you and help you feel comfortable, and Dr. Bruner did just that. My surgery went great and I feel so much better now!

Excellent Surgeon
Dr. Bruner was very understanding of the issues being caused by nerves in my back. I have had 4 previous back surgeries, one of which caused such a serious pressure injury that I had to have my shoulder replacement redone, so I didn't have a lot of hope for the outcome of this one. It also resulted in a lot of hardware in my back. I was so shocked and thrilled after the surgery! It fixed ALL the issues I had been having and I was able to hold my head up walk well and leave the house without having an embarrassing accident! He was able to work around all the hardware and get to the areas he needed to work on. He told me it was not an easy surgery but he accomplished everything I was hoping for! He is a miracle worker as far as I'm concerned! Thank you Dr. Bruner!!!

Dr Bruner is the Best! – Aug 11, 2023

I can go out in public again!
I met Dr. Bruner at the height of what can only be described as hamstring pain so horrible I would land on the floor writhing to get away from it, and I never knew when it would hit. When that pain was not apparent, sacral nerves would cause sharp pain and force me to shift or bend to make it stop. Dr. Bruner was thoughtful, personable, and very confident. THAT is what you want in a surgeon. Typically that translates into a bad bedside manner, but that was not Dr. Bruner. He was approachable and kind. The MRI showed a loose screw out of the triple lumbar fusion (L5-S1) done by an Orthopedic surgeon three years prior, but he couldn’t tell specifically where the debilitating pain was coming from until he was in there. He did whatever it is he does that in my opinion, makes him great. Today, I am not afraid to go out in public. He took the pain away. Since the car accident, my spine has never been the same and I’m getting older. If I have to see someone again, it will be him.

Was a patient of Dr. Harlan Bruner from 2016 to 2019. He performed taking braces that was in my back from a previous back surgery in 1996. during which time I was doing well till I hit a ditch in my back yard with a Zero turn lawn mower. When I did I flipped on to the steering bars and broke the front and back braces in me. Then came to Dr. Harlan Bruner. He proceed to tell me what I had to have done. Explained the risk and complications in which I agreed to the surgeries. Did a excellent job. Was in the hospital for my first surgeries for a month and a half. With these surgeries. No more that two to three days at the most. Gained back my mobility as soon as two days with no problems. Excellent surgeon, great bedside manor, great at explaining all that I had inquired from him. Even was in concerned for my wife who was worried for me and my life. He assured her that all was good and kept her calm. Need more doctor's like him.

Be aware! Very unprofessional!!! What is it with this country?! I had a 3:10 appointment with Bruner whom I had not seen after the OP , just one of his helpers on my 6 week check up. The appointment was requested by Dr Bruner!! So I agreed to drive to Athens ( Roundtrip 3 Hours) They requested me to come and see him and talk to him. I arrived at 3 pm. They had given me clear instructions, mask, healthy, fever measuring, be on time, nobody with me! I waited until 4:10pm , my blood pressure at that point was 170/100! The doctor wasn’t seen, I waited 4:20pm! The office closes at 4:30pm!! I left! Do I expect too much to be treated with the same respect that I give them? I am speechless!! Never again! Besides that the operation hadn‘t changed anything. I feel taken advantage of because I have excellent Health Insurance, working as a professional! Beware of being just a number, and Dr Bruner just cashing in from your insurance!!

I had 2 level cervical disc replacement surgery performed by Dr. Bruner. From my first office visit to my final post op surgery visit he and his staff made sure I received the best of care. I needed extra paper work filled out for my absence from work post-surgery and they handled that in a very timely manner and were so helpful. Their GNS outpatient surgical center was very clean and everyone there was amazing. Very professional and on top of things. I highly recommend Dr. Bruner, the pain I had been living with on a daily basis for years is gone and life is so much better!

Dr. Bruner and staff have been wonderful. Dr. Bruner did a neck fusion on me. I started healing quickly and now I feel like a new person. Able to turn my head easily both ways and neck pain is completely gone. Takes time to explain what is going on and what to expect. Could not have been a better experience.

I am very grateful for Dr. Bruner. He was able to quickly diagnose the issue that caused me severe pain for nearly a year. I had been to multiple doctors regarding this pain as well as physical therapy with no success. Once Dr. Bruner reviewed my MRI results he determined ACDF surgery was the best path forward for me. The surgery was very successful and now only 3 months later I am nearly 100% pain free and have my life back.

He was very kind. I have a hard time understanding medical issues,as up until 51 I have been in amazing health. We are awaiting my contrast MRI results. I hope he can help long all of his reviews have said. I look forward to seeing him again, and pray he can give me my quality of life back. I am tired of being in pain, and having to be a slave to pain medicine. Also, his medical records person, and referred people are very kind people.

I was in pain with my lower lumbar. Went to serval doctors and they told me I did not need surgery and was giving me pain pills. I was on at least 7 different pain pills and could not function being on the pain meds. I went to Dr. Harlan and he was very informative. He told me he could take away the pain and take me off the pain meds. I had lower lumbar surgery 10/30/2018. Very next day I was feeling better and in no pain and have not taken any pain Meds since the surgery. THANK YOU!, Dr. Harlan

I had the robotic surgery procedure with Dr. Bruner in June 2018. I can't even describe how much better I feel. I was told by another neurosurgeon that my back issue was not surgical. I am SO glad I sought another opinion and elected to have surgery with Dr. Bruner. Before the surgery I was trying to horseback ride with an icepack. I can ride with no problems now. I was in severe pain before surgery and now I feel great. What more could anyone ask for!

Our son complained of headaches for several months and 2 doctors misdiagnosed the cause as a pinched nerve. An MRI late on a September Friday afternoon revealed that he had a subdural hematoma, it was a spontaneous bleed with no trauma. He was admitted to Piedmont Athens that night and the next morning Dr. Bruner performed the surgery. He told us prior what he would be doing and saw us after, he was caring, competent and put us at ease stating simply he could fix this, great experience.

Dr. Bruner was amazing at every stage of my treatment for a herniated disk in my lumbar spine. I went from barely being able to function throughout the day or even sleep through the night (due to the pain) to essentially a complete recovery. I cannot praise Dr. Bruner's skill as a surgeon, nor his entire team enough. All of them had phenomenal, friendly, and professional bedside manner, as well as tremendous medical knowledge and expertise.
