Biography: Dr. Parikh is the Director of Endovascular Services at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Associate Professor of Medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. His clinical practice leverages his knowledge and experience in clinical cardiovascular medicine and complex coronary and peripheral vascular interventions. He has an active practice in cardiovascular medicine with a focus on atherosclerotic vascular disease and intervention throughout the circulation. This includes coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease including claudication and critical limb ischemia, renovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease and venous disease and thrombosis. He is a nationally recognized clinician educator and investigator in vascular medicine and intervention. He has won numerous teaching awards locally and co-directs several national educational programs for physicians in training and for continuing medical education in conjunction with the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF), the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Intervention (SCAI). His research interests focus on novel endovascular devices for the treatment of vascular disease. He has been the site and national principal investigator for several clinical trials and has authored more than 50 original manuscripts and reviews in basic and clinical cardiovascular medicine. He lectures frequently at national meetings including Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT), ACC and SCAI amongst others. Dr. Parikh grew up in northern New Jersey and graduated from Livingston High School. He went on to graduate magna cum laude from Harvard College with an AB in Biomedical Sciences and Engineering and went on to earn his MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine with Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital, cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology fellowships at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and vascular medicine and intervention fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital, all teaching hospitals affiliated with the Harvard Medical School in Boston. Biography: Dr. William Prabhu is an interventional cardiologist at Columbia. He graduated from SUNY Upstate medical school at Syracuse in 2009. He completed residency and a chief residency at UVM medical center from 2009-2012. He then completed general cardiology, interventional cardiology, structural heart and peripheral vascular fellowships at Brown University from 2013-2018. Biography: Allan Schwartz, MD is a Cardiologist, Chief, Division of Cardiology, Vice Chair, Department of Medicine and Seymour Milstein and Harold Ames Hatch Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center/Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He graduated magna cum laude in physics and mathematics from the City College of New York in 1967. He received an MA in physics in 1968 from Harvard University and an MD from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1974, where he was awarded the Robert Loeb and Janeway Prizes. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the Presbyterian Hospital and he received a fellowship in clinical and research cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Schwartz returned to the College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1978 as an academic clinical cardiologist. Dr. Schwartz has been vigorously involved in patient care, education of medical students, medical housestaff and cardiology fellows, as well as clinical research with a current focus on valvular heart disease. He has progressively assumed various leadership and administrative roles serving as Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Associate Director of the Division of Cardiology and the Seymour Milstein and Harold Ames Hatch Professor of Clinical Medicine. Dr. Schwartz has also played an important administrative role within the Department of Medicine, serving as Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine. Dr. Schwartz has been the driving force behind the development of the NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center Cardiovascular Service Line and the development of the new Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center. Under Dr. Schwartz's leadership, there has been a major increase in the breadth of cardiology clinical and research activities, resulting in the Division of Cardiology's attaining international prominence and emerging as one of the leading cardiology training centers in the United States.

Biography: Dr. Shmuel Chen is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. After this focused research time, Dr. Chen joined The Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (New York, NY) for a two-year interventional cardiology fellowship program in July 2019. He is the Director of Cardiac Catheterization laboratories at the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.Dr. Wong graduated Summa Cum Laude from Columbia College in May 1980 and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons in May 1984. Following his medical internship, residency, and clinical cardiology training at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Medical Center in New York City, he spent one additional stent fellowship year in 1991 under the tutorage of Dr. Richard Schatz at Scripps's Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla, California. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.After his medical training, Dr. Wong joined the Cardiology Research Foundation at the Washington Hospital in 1992 and was appointed as Director of Coronary Stent Program in 1993. In 1995, Dr. Wong spearheaded a new cardiac catheterization program at the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens where he assumed the directorship of coronary interventions. Dr. Wong has recently served as the national principal investigation in the ECLIPSE trial which evaluated the safety and efficacy of an extra-vascular bio-degradable access site closure device in patients undergoing coronary or peripheral diagnostic/interventional procedures compare to the standard treatment of manual compression.Other exciting areas of ongoing research include percutaneous treatment valvular disease states including mitral regurgitation and aortic stenosis, assessment of novel pharmacologic agents to enhance safety of angioplasty procedures.His clinical research activities have been published in Journal of American College of Cardiology, American Journal of Cardiology, American heart Journal and he has presented his findings at numerous national and international meetings including American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, Transcatheter Therapeutics, Summer in Seattle, Taiwan Society of Cardiology and Asia Pacific Cardiology Congress. He is recruited to serve as member of the Scientific Advisory Board of multiple major US medical device companies.

An interventional cardiologist typically:

Orders and interprets laboratory and imaging tests and prescribes medications
