Biography: Jones Nauseef, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine within the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine, and Assistant Attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. His clinical emphasis is on Genitourinary (GU) cancers and Phase I clinical trials. His research is focused on genomics of advanced prostate cancers, including neuroendocrine prostate cancer, as well as health care disparities.Dr. Nauseef received his B.A. in Biology in 2006 from Swarthmore College, where he also participated in NCAA Track and Cross Country. In 2015, Dr. Nauseef earned his M.D. and Ph.D. in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics (Laboratory of Dr. Michael D. Henry) as part of the NIH-sponsored MedicalScientist Training Program (MSTP) at the Carver College of Medicine of theUniversity of Iowa. He continued his medical training at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian (WCM/NYP), where he completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine in 2018. He was honored to be the recipient of the David B. Skinner award at the conclusion of his residency. He remained at WCM/NYP for his Fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology, during which time he was awarded a 2020 Conquer Cancer Foundation of ASCO Young Investigator Award (YIA) and the 2021 Scott Wadler Fellows Clinical Research Award. During his Fellowship, Dr. Nauseef expanded his research focus to include the genomics of advanced prostate cancers and health care disparities in American men of African descent. He serves as co-investigator or collaborator on extramural grants for the latter project. Dr. Nauseef will continue these investigations as a member of the Englander Institute for Precision Medicine and inaffiliation with the New York Genome Center, with the primary goal of leveraging discoveries to develop clinical trials as part of the Phase I/Earlytherapeutics group at Weill Cornell's Meyer Cancer Center.

Care Philosophy: Today's research and treatment of lung cancer are at the cutting edge of science and technology. Enormous progress has been made in lung cancer treatment. Several targeted therapies and now immunotherapies have changed the way we treat the disease. Cancer patients and their families who come to the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center will work closely with a team of dedicated and knowledgeable cancer specialists to determine the most appropriate treatment path for their specific cancer needs. My research is focused on advancing our understanding of lung cancer and thymic tumors and their responses to specific treatment, including how to harness the body's immune system to fight cancer. I keep my patients and their families front and center in my practice to help them understand the technology that may be available to them. My goal is to always work together with my patients, using science to overcome disease.

Biography: Dr. Paul Pagnini has served as a leader in community-based and academic radiation oncology for the past 20 years. Dr. Pagnini completed his residency training in Radiation Oncology at Tufts/New England Medical Center where he was chief resident in his final year. He was awarded the prestigious Research Fellowship Award from the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology, which enabled him to study the role of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for the treatment of cancers of the central nervous system. He has served on the Faculty of the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine where he was the Radiation Oncology Residency Program Director. His most recent position was with the Cleveland Clinic Florida, where he served as Department Chair for the last five years. He has multiple peer reviewed publications in the areas of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), 3-D conformal radiation therapy, Cyberknife, and Gamma-Knife radiosurgery.

Biography: Emily Tonorezos, MD MPH is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Tonorezos received her bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and her M.D. from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2001. Biography: Alana Nguyen, MD PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.Dr. Nguyen received her MD from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts and herPhD from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She went on to complete her postgraduate medical training in Internal Medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. After her residency, she entered fellowship training in Medical Oncology at Columbia University/New York-Presbyterian Hospital in the Physician-Scientist Pathway.Dr. Nguyen sees patients with malignancies of the digestive tract in her clinical practice.In addition, her research focuses on drug development based on biological understanding of therapy resistance. She received a Women Who Conquer Cancer Award from the American Society for Clinical Oncology and its Conquer Cancer Foundation for her work on a 3-dimensional culture model of patient tumors to predict for patients' response to chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Using this innovative model, her current research will focus on understanding the tumor microenvironment of pancreatic cancer, and how this tumor microenvironment participates in drug evasion.

Care Philosophy: My clinical interests include working with children with various blood disorders, such as sickle cell anemia, blood clotting disorders, and rare disorders called Myeloproliferative Neoplasms. I find it a privilege to be able to help families deal with their children's complex medical issues. Biography: Nora Chokr, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine/ NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She specializes in the care of patients with blood disorders who are in need of bone marrow or stem cell transplantation or cellular-based therapies, like chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy. Dr. Chokr received her medical degree from the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Lebanon in 2015. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Yale New Haven Hospital and her Hematology/Oncology fellowship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where she served as a Chief Fellow. Biography: Juliet Barker, MBBS (Hons), FRACP, is an Australian trained hematologist. Having been an Attending Member and Physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and the Director of the MSKCC Cord Blood (CB) Transplantation Program, Dr. Barker has been recruited to Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital as the Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program.Over the last 25 years, Dr. Barker has worked to expand transplant access to minority patients with hematologic malignancies and has demonstrated the ability of cord blood transplantation to provide curative therapy for such populations without suitable adult donors. Dr. Barker's work in this area has been internationally recognized and she has published extensively concerning novel strategies to optimize access to donor transplants and cord blood transplant outcomes. Additionally, she has a special focus on optimizing complex health care delivery such as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in under-served populations. Dr. Barker has advised the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) and is a member of the Advisory Council on Blood Stem Cell Transplantation to the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. government. She has served on the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT) Board and led the national ASTCT Cord Blood Special Interest Group. Biography: Rohit K. Jain MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital- Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Jain earned his medical degree at Topiwala National Medical College and B.Y.L. Nair Charitable Hospital, Mumbai, India. Biography: Amer Assal MD is a board certified medical oncologist and hematologist who specializes in the use of autologous and allogeneic bone marrow stem cell transplantation for the treatment of multiple myeloma, leukemia, lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndromes and other bone marrow disorders. Dr. Assal completed his medical education and internal medicine training at NYU School of Medicine. He was also a hospitalist in the department of medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center caring for patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses, including stem cell transplant patients. Dr. Assal completed a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he also served as chief fellow. He finally completed a fellowship in blood and marrow stem cell transplantation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. His research interests center around improving outcomes of stem cell transplantation and the diseases it is used to treat. He has a particular interest in immunotherapy and studying ways to harness the immune system to attack tumor cells, while at the same time decreasing the risk of graft versus host disease. He is also interested in studying therapeutic interventions to prevent and treat relapse of disease after stem cell transplantation. He has presented his research at several national conferences and was awarded an American Society of Hematology Abstract Achievement award for his research.

Biography: Michal Bar-Natan, MD, is Interim Assistant Professor of Medicine and a member of the Leukemia Program at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.Dr. Bar-Natan graduated cum laude from the Sackler School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Sheba Medical Center and her Fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at NYU Langone Health.In addition to her clinical fellowship training, Dr. Bar-Natan completed a research fellowship at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital (Harvard Medical School) with a focus on the role that signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) proteins play in the development and treatment of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) and leukemias.Prior to this position Dr. Bar-Natan served as Associate Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Biography: Dr. Lisa Roth is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. She is also the Director of the Adolescent and Young Adult Lymphoma Program at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Roth has been named the Charles, Lillian, and Betty Neuwirth Clinical Scholar in Pediatric Oncology. Dr. Roth completed her undergraduate work at Duke University. She received her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Roth conducted her residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell and her fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and NewYork-Presbyterian where she served as chief fellow. Dr. Mejia's research also investigates the connectionof race, ethnicity and myeloma, how myeloma escapes the surveillance of the immune system, as well as how genetic information can be used to develop novel approaches to treat myeloma.
