Eric M. Hoenicke, M.D. is originally from Midland, Michigan. He earned his medical degree from The University of Michigan School of Medicine in Ann Arbor, Michigan and completed his general surgery residency at The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. Dr. Hoenicke is board-certified in thoracic surgery and completed his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Hoenicke is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery and the Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. His areas of interest include transplantation, mechanical circulatory support (VADs), robotic surgery, video-assisted thoroscopic surgery (VATS), surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation, mitral surgery, arterial revascularization for coronary arterial disease and surgical treatment of thoracic oncology. Before joining CTVS, Dr. Hoenicke practiced with West Michigan Cardiothoracic Surgeons in Muskegon Michigan.

This physician is accepting telehealth visits. Dr. David Revere is originally from Long Island, New York. He graduated from Stony Brook University with a B.S. degree in Biology and went on the University of Connecticut School of Medicine to obtain his medical degree. Dr. Revere went on to do his residency in Internal Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he was appointed Chief Resident and was awarded Resident Teacher of the Year as a senior resident. He then did his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at North Shore LIJ Health system, where he was honored with being chosen as Chief Cardiology Fellow. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, and Adult Echocardiography. Dr. Revere has experience in the diagnosis and treatment of all facets of cardiac conditions and diseases. In his spare time he is an accomplished drummer who continues to enjoy playing regularly in bands, performing on recordings, and in live concerts as well as spending quality time with his wife and two children and his dog.

Dr. Nguyen received both his bachelor's degree and medical degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. He continued his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI, and the William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI. Dr. Nguyen completed his Cardiology fellowship at the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, where he served as Chief Fellow. Dr. Nguyen is fluent in English and Vietnamese.

Mark C. Felger, M.D. is a native Texan originally from Austin and earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Emory University in Atlanta and his cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He has practiced with Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons since 1997 and is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery as well as the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Felger specializes in all areas of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery including mitral valve repair, endovascular thoracic aneurysm repair and coronary artery bypass surgery. He currently serves as Director of Surgical Services at Heart Hospital of Austin. He is an active member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, Texas Transplant Society, Texas Medical Association and Travis County Medical Society. Dr. Felger has also composed and published numerous research articles in his specialty. Dr. Edward Chafizadeh has practiced Cardiology in Austin since 1997. He received his B.A. in Molecular Biochemistry from Yale University in 1985, and earned his M.D. with High Honors from Baylor College of Medicine in 1989. He subsequently completed Internal Medicine residency at Baylor, and served as Chief Medical Resident at Baylor/St.Luke's Episcopal Hospital. Dr. Chafizadeh then completed fellowship in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Harvard Beth Israel from 1993-1997. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease.Dr. Chafizadeh currently practices General and Interventional Cardiology at St. David's Medical Center in Austin. He is on the Bylaws Committee, the Quality Assurance Committee, and is the Medical Director for STEMI care at St. David's. His clinical interests include Preventive Cardiology, Lipid disorders, Interventional Cardiology (including both Cardiac and Peripheral Vascular disease), and non-invasive imaging of the heart and blood vessels.Dr. Chafizadeh is a past president of the Capitol Area Division of the American Heart Association, and has served on the Texas Board of Directors of the American Heart Association.In his spare time, Dr. Chafizadeh enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids, running, playing basketball, flag football and golf, and working the Sunday Times crossword puzzle.

Dr. Bassiouny is trained in all aspects of clinical cardiac electrophysiology including catheter ablation of complex arrhythmias, placement of left atrial occlusion devices, and implantation and extraction of cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators. His areas of interest include ablation of atrial fibrillation as well as endocardial and epicardial ablation of ventricular tachycardia.Dr. Bassiouny earned his medical degree with honors from Cairo University. After the completion of his residency in Egypt, he joined the Cairo University Hospital as an attending physician. Dr. Bassiouny came to the United States to complete his Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. This led to a decade of additional training and research within the Cleveland Clinic which included a second residency, a cardiovascular fellowship, and an additional year of electrophysiology fellowship.Dr. Bassiouny's research interests include atrial fibrillation and cardiac pacing and resynchronization. He has led several studies examining the optimal anticoagulation and ablation strategies for patients undergoing atrial fibrillation ablation. He has published many articles in scientific journals, several of which were cited in the American and European guidelines for atrial fibrillation ablation and cardiac resynchronization. Dr. Khaled Awad is a board certified cardiac electrophysiologist. Dr. Awad joins TCA as one of the nation's busiest and highly experienced physicians in the field of cardiac ablations. He offers extensive repertoire in complex interventions aimed at correcting heart rhythm disorders. Dr. Awad received his medical degree from the University of Mansoura, College of Medicine in Egypt. Dr. Awad pursued his graduate medical education in the United States. He completed his internal medicine residency program in Detroit at the Wayne State University / Detroit Medical Center, where he also served as a chief resident. Dr. Awad pursued his cardiology fellowship training at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque where he also served as a chief fellow. While at that program, Dr. Awad partnered with the FDA committees to conduct research pertaining to the reliability of implantable cardiac defibrillators. His dream to pursue the highest level of training in the field of cardiac ablations, particularly the treatment of ventricular tachycardia, was realized when he joined the prestigious cardiac electrophysiology fellowship program at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Awad joined faculty at the University of Alabama in Birmingham as an assistant professor where he continued to advance his research and teaching mission. Dr. Awad practiced at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for almost a decade where he developed a nationally acclaimed program for complex ablations. Dr. Awad published several papers in the field of cardiac electrophysiology and presented his work in prestigious journals and professional conferences. Dr. Awad believes that his role is to enable his patients to live their life to the fullest by utilizing available technology and his interventional skills, in a way that emphasizes partnership in decision making.

As a native of Austin, Dr. Allison is excited to provide care for those in the community dealing with cardiac arrhythmias. His interest in cardiology began while studying mechanical engineering at the University of Texas and using computer software to simulate the pumping heart. He pursued this interest and attended medical school at the University of Texas School of Medicine in San Antonio, and later completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Here he found a passion for treating patients with cardiac arrhythmias, and subsequently completed his Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship at Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He received awards and honors including being Chief Fellow of the Cardiac Arrhythmia Service. He has authored and co-authored research papers and book chapters in the field of cardiology and arrhythmias, and has been invited to present his original research findings at national meetings. Dr. Allison received comprehensive training in all aspects of Cardiac Electrophysiology, including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of arrhythmias. His clinical interests are the use of advanced technologies for safe and effective cardiac ablation of atrial fibrillation, and both ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmias. He also focuses on pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and removal, as well as left atrial appendage closure. Dr. Allison's passion is the use of state-of-the-art methods for treatment of cardiac arrhythmias to help improve the lives of those in this beloved community.
