Dr. Roby Abraham is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, fellowship trained in adult hip and knee reconstruction. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at SUNY Downstate in New York and his advanced training in adult hip and knee reconstruction at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, Florida. Dr. Abraham went to medical school at the prestigious Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, BS/MD 7-year program. The program has a core initiative in preventative care, which is synonymous with Dr. Abraham's goal of providing mutli-disciplinary approaches for hip and knee arthritis starting with collaborations with primary care physicians.Dr. Abraham's clinical expertise involves hip and knee arthritis, failed/painful hip and knee replacements, sports related injuries, and fractured bones. Dr. Abraham believes in providing an individualized approach to each patient's condition, considering their social factors, current disabilities and expected outcomes. Treatment without surgery is the first option for most conditions. After appropriate nonoperative treatment a wide variety of operative interventions are offered for each condition. He joined Sports Medicine Associates of South Florida after completing his Hand, Wrist and Microvascular Surgery fellowship at the University of Southern California. At USC, he worked under an expert team of physicians and surgeons directly responsible for the care and treatment of the USC Trojans athletic teams. Dr. Shenassa grew up in Long Island, New York and attended New York University for his undergraduate studies. After NYU, Dr, Shenassa studied medicine in Haifa, Israel at the Technion Institute of Technology Faculty of Medicine. He returned to New York to complete his surgical residency training at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, an affiliate of the NYU/ Albert Einstein Schools of Medicine. Dr. Shenassa is also the Chairman of the Board at HCA Woodmont Hospital in Tamarac, FL. In addition to serving on the board of the hospital since 2016, he is also an expert consultant and educator for several medical device companies specializing in the advancement of minimally invasive surgical techniques for hand and upper extremity conditions.
