Biography: Gina Badalato, M.D., Associate Professor of Urology, joined our faculty in December 2014 as part of the clinical team serving general urology patients. A graduate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and one of the Department's former residents and clinical fellows, Dr. Badalato specializes in voiding dysfunction, female urology, and stone disease. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Badalato plays an important role in the Department's education mission by serving as Director of Medical Education and advisor to Columbia P&S students. Dr. Badalato has research interest stone disease, voiding dysfunction and medical education outcomes. She has co-authored numerous articles on these and other topics in urology.

Biography: Dr. Izak Faiena MD, MSCR is a urologic oncologist with a specialized focus on prostate cancer. His expertise spans advanced diagnostic techniques, such as MRI fusion and transperineal biopsy, as well as cutting-edge treatments including focal therapy and robotic surgery. With a solid foundation from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, Dr. Faiena went on to complete his urology residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. During this time, he earned multiple research awards for his contributions to prostate and bladder cancer studies. Following his residency, Dr. Faiena pursued a fellowship in urologic oncology and earned a Master's in Clinical Research from the esteemed UCLA Institute of Urologic Oncology and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute. His work here garnered significant research funding and resulted in impactful publications on clinical trials in urologic cancers. Currently, Dr. Faiena is dedicated to advancing the field of prostate cancer through innovative clinical trials, targeting both localized and advanced stages of the disease. His groundbreaking research has been featured in top national and international medical journals, reflecting his commitment to improving patient outcomes and advancing cancer care.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Frey is an established, highly-skilled physician with over 17 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology. He is well-regarded and active in the community (having mentored the Women's Healthy Summer program, as well as providing free cancer screening for women of underserved areas of the community). Before joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Frey was on faculty at Montefiore Health Center where he served as an attending physician and assistant professor at the Einstein College of Medicine. He is active in educating medical students and residents alike and has been awarded for his research in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Frey takes pride in the bonds built with his patients, and seeks to advance women's care by taking into account the science coupled with the benefits of exercise, personal safety, and proper nutrition.

Biography: Svjetlana Lozo MD, MPH is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and subspecialized in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive surgery (Urogynecology). Dr. Lozo completed her fellowship at University of Chicago and NorthShore University Health System. She provides patient centered medical and surgical care for women with urinary and bowel incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, fistula and pelvic floor trauma. Minimally invasive surgical approaches used in her practice are vaginal, laparoscopic, robotic and cystoscopic. Prior to her training in urogynecology, Dr. Lozo completed a Global Health fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital as well as a master's in public health at Harvard University. She is passionate about medical and surgical teaching locally and internationally, as well as utilizing a holistic approach to patient care. Dr. Lozo is actively involved in International Urogynecology Association, hoping to bring awareness to pelvic floor disorders both locally and internationally.
