Fortunately, joint replacement is a generally reliable procedure, so we focus our attention first on whether surgery is the best option, and second, getting the procedure done in the least invasive way possible, to allow the most rapid recovery. Still, the thought of an elective surgery can produce anxiety. We acknowledge patient fears and address them directly, by providing information, connection with patients who have gone through the same procedure, and if desired, intercessory prayer. We spend a great deal of time aligning patient expectations with the reality of what these procedures can deliver, based on our current outcomes and research. Some of our patients have had replacements elsewhere that have not worked well. We specialize in analyzing the reasons why and developing a corrective plan.
