I was under Dr. Shin's care for over a year after I suddenly started having hip pain. He correctly diagnosed that I had a torn labrum, and indicated I had mild FAI that was causing the torn tissue. Long story short, this was not the full picture. Dr. Shin is a caring and compassionate doctor, but his expertise seems limited to arthroscopic procedures (this is what he recommended for me to fix the torn labrum and shave off the extra bone causing the tear). There are hip preservation specialists who focus more on structural surgeries and several of them told me that the cause of my torn labrum was in fact hip dysplasia (not the tiny bit of extra bone on my femoral neck). They also told me it would be extremely irresponsible to have a scope procedure done without fixing the underlying dysplasia through a different procedure called a PAO. Dr. Shin is nice, but not very skilled. I wasted a lot of time under his care instead of having the right surgery (a PAO) and recovering sooner.

Dr. Shin listens very well and indeed genuinely cares about your needs. He illustrates your injury visually and clearly. I like it that he performs surgery only because the other options failed. He is trustworthy and has best bedside manner.

I feel very lucky to have been referred to Dr. Shin. Super friendly and easy to talk to, he's also obviously really smart and skilled too. He came up with a treatment plan to relieve chronic leg pain at a time when my other doctors seemed stymied. The surgery experience was very smooth and professional, and the surgery itself seemed very contained and precise. The follow-up was smooth and professional as well very clear instructions and no complications. Very impressed and appreciative!

Dr. Shin took time and care to explain to me the recommended procedure and possible outcomes. I appreciated that it was as important to him as it was to me that I have a good understanding of the surgery plan. After surgery he went into detail to describe what he saw in my knee and what he repaired. I have been extremely satisfied with my experience with Dr. Shin and his team and would highly recommended!

Great guy and very good at explaining the vaguearies of the human joints to us lay-folk. Always concerned that I understood what the diagnosis was, and what the treatment wouldinvolve, and what we hoped to achieve with that treatment.

I had knee pain and severe grinding of my knee bones after an accident. I was recommended to AO Sports Med by urgent care a few months after. The office staff was helpful and kind. Dr. Shin was very professional, timely, and listened to what I said. After additional imaging he informed me that 60% of the people who had my injury could recover with PT. After trying PT I elected to have the surgery. Surgery was 2 weeks ago, it went great, and it appears I’ll have little scaring. Highly recommended

My experience of surgery with Dr. Shin, has been amazing. He guaranteed me relief, from extreme knee wear and tear. And that he has with my first surgery, it’s been 2 weeks with my second knee surgery, I look forward to visiting his practice, for I value his professional care, which I know has moved on to a more stronger second knee. I highly recommend his service and care, I’m looking forward to be back as a cement finisher in 4-6 months. On do what I have been missing due to chronic knee

Dr. Shin's great! He performed a major hip surgery for me with ease. Dr Shin's remarkably professional and made me feel comfortable through the entire treatment process. He really knows his stuff and I found that quite comforting. Everything from the first consultation to the follow up appointments went smoothly. I would highly recommend Dr. Shin for anything hip related!

Dr Shin not only has great talent as a surgeon, but he is also a great guy. Fantastic bedside manner, knowledge, and people skills. I totally trust him, everything he says comes true, and I can’t imagine having a more positive experience than I have had with him. I have had multiple experiences with him and they have always been really good. His team and office staff are also great, very personable, and professional. My highest recommendation goes out to him.
