He received his medical degree from Kaunas University of Medicine in Lithuania, where he also did postgraduatemedical training. Upon his move to the United States, he completed an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia.
