He has published research on topics of bariatric and laparoscopic surgery and has a special interest in the topic of super obesity (BMI 50) and associated comorbid conditions. Dr. Michael Martinez received the Young Physician of the Year Award by the National Hispanic Medical Association in 2018. The recognition is due to him keeping patients as the focus of his practice and helping the Hispanic community.
