Care Philosophy: "Patients do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care." Cancer and blood disorders are complicated diseases. I try to teach my patients about their disease in a way a non-medical person can understand. When possible, I avoid medical jargon and explain what is going to happen as we treat them. My goal is to comfort my patients and their families. I explain how we will be with them along this journey, including helping them manage any of the side effects of treatment. I often find it isn't the treatment, as much as the side effects, that concern many of my patients. My goal is to make them feel as if someone actually listened to their concerns and is there to help.
