Biography: Sheena Bhuva, M.D., A Plano, Texas native, has joined the Texas Back Institute as a Physiatrist. She completed her Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine Fellowship at Desert Spine and Sports Physicians in Phoenix, Arizona. She earned her Doctorate of Medicine at Texas A & M Health Science Center College of Medicine, Bryan and Dallas, TX in 2013. She completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency, where she was Chief Resident at Baylor University Medical Center, Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation, Dallas, TX.Her recent Honors include the Arnold P. Gold Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award (1 of 3 PM&R residents who have won this award from 2004-2016), the American Academy of Neurology Medical Student Prize for Excellence in Neurology, and The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago Sarah Baskin Award for Excellence in Research.She is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Spine Intervention Society, the North American Spine Society, and The Texas Medical Association.Dr. Bhuva enjoys spending time with her family and friends playing board games and trying new restaurants. She also loves to travel and stay active by playing basketball and hiking. She has a second degree black belt in USA Martial Arts.

Biography: John Kristoferson M.D. is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon. Born into an engineering military family, he grew up in Europe and the Eastern United States. Out of necessity he learned to fix what's broke, a talent which developed into an Orthopaedic career.He attended Trinity University in San Antonio, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He then entered The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, again graduating with highest honors. He completed his training at U.T. Southwestern affiliated hospitals, finishing the final three months working for The National Health Service in Norwich, England.Dr. Kristoferson has been married for forty years, has four adult children and four grandchildren. They are his greatest achievement. Aviation is his primary hobby. He built and flies an experimental aircraft. He also owns and flies a Lake Renegade Amphibian aircraft. A trip to Alaska is on his bucket list.Dr. Kristoferson has extensive experience in nearly all orthopaedic procedures. He is grateful to have lucked into his perfect career choice! He goes to work each day because he wants to, not because he needs to. He is committed to taking the time to understand a patient's needs/desires and facilitating an optimal outcome.

Biography: Dr. Casas is the founder of Dallas Sarcoma Associates. Originally from El Paso, Texas, he received his degree in biology from Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He then trained for five years as an orthopaedic surgery resident at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and spent two years as a fellow of orthopaedic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He pursued further training at the Istituti Ortopedici Rizzoli in Bologna, Italy and at the Hospital del Nio Jesus in Madrid, Spain. Prior to establishing Dallas Sarcoma Associates, Dr. Casas was an assistant professor of orthopaedics at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Dr. Casas is an expert in limb salvage surgery. As such, he serves as a consultant to other physicians seeking such highly specialized care for their patients. Limb preservation surgery avoids the need for amputation and involves techniques across a range of medical specialties.Dr. Casas and his team specialize in treating bone and soft tissue sarcomas, cancer metastatic to the bone, and benign bone and soft tissue tumors. He has co-authored scientific papers on the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal tumors.
