Biography: Dr. Paul Petrakos is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medicine. He is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist, specializing in the evaluation and treatment glaucoma, including medical management, laser, and surgical procedures. He also performs cataract surgery and is up-to-date on the latest advances in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).A native New Yorker, Dr. Petrakos graduated from Stony Brook University before attending the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. Here he served as an Academic Medicine Scholar and received a masters degree in Neuromusculoskeletal Sciences.Dr. Petrakos completed his residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College. He then continued his training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, completing his glaucoma fellowship and receiving specialized training in trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage device implantation, laser trabeculoplasty and iridotomy, complex cataract extraction, laser-assisted cataract extraction, implantation of astigmatic (toric) and multi-focal intraocular lenses, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.Dr. Petrakos is committed to providing personalized glaucoma and cataract care supplemented by the newest technologies, instruments, and techniques. He is an author and co-author of a number of journal articles and book chapters. His areas of clinical and research interest include ocular imaging, medical and surgical treatments of glaucoma. Biography: Dr. Noga Harizman, MD is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center specializing in glaucoma and cornea. Dr. Harizman is a leader in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery techniques, both as a teacher and practitioner. Prior to joining Columbia, Dr. Harizman was the Director of Glaucoma services at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, and served as an attending physician and preceptor for resident glaucoma clinics. She is deeply involved in creating the glaucoma surgical curriculum and supervising resident and laser surgical cases. In Columbia University Irving Medical Center, she is the Glaucoma Fellowship program director since 2021. She is also Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology at Harlem Hospital-NYC HHC, where the Columbia Ophthalmology residents rotate twice a year throughout their training. For her outstanding educational leadership, she received the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary Teaching Award in 2011, and he Philip Knapp Memorial Residents Teaching Award at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in 2021. A native New Yorker born to Israeli parents, Dr. Harizman grew up in and was schooled and medically trained in Israel. She is a graduate of Tel Aviv University Medical School. Immediately upon graduating from ophthalmology residency, she began teaching and tutoring medical students on ocular anatomy and disease as a Clinical Instructor in Ophthalmology, at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. She then completed sequential fellowships in glaucoma and cornea at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where she joined the full-time faculty in 2008. In addition to her accolades as a distinguished physician-educator with international experience and expertise, Dr. Harizman is known for being an effective and caring mentor for medical students, residents and fellows. She has maintained the highest professional and ethical standards and, enjoys providing care for her new and long-term patients, all while managing a full family life.

Biography: Gabriel Rand, MD, is Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at CUMC, and a board-certified cornea expert specializing in the medical and surgical management of cornea, anterior segment, and refractive conditions. Dr. Rand received his fellowship training in cornea, anterior segment, and refractive surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He has an undergraduate degree from the School of Engineering at Cornell University and completed his medical school and ophthalmology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. During his residency, Dr. Rand was awarded the Ronald M. Burde Award for Excellence in Research for his work in the application of advanced statistical methods with eye bank data. Dr. Rand will be seeing patients in Columbia Ophthalmology's Westchester practice and the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute in northern Manhattan.
