Biography: Christopher B. Anderson, MD, Associate Professor of Urology at CUMC, joined the Department of Urology in September 2015. He specializes in cancers of the bladder, prostate, kidney, testis and penis and performs both open and robotic surgeries. Dr. Anderson completed his medical degree from Northwestern University, completed his urology residency at Vanderbilt University, and then spent two years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as a fellow in urologic oncology. Following his residency, Dr. Anderson completed a urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and obtained a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard University. Dr. Anderson's research interests include factors that influence the quality of surgery, access to care for patients with bladder cancer, outcomes after robotic prostatectomy, and active surveillance strategies for men with prostate cancer. Dr. Anderson has published several peer-reviewed articles and was recognized as "Best Reviewer" in 2014 by The Journal of Urology and in 2016 by Cancer. Dr. Anderson has clinical expertise in robotic prostatectomy for the treatment of prostate cancer, radical cystectomy with orthotopic neobladder for patients with bladder cancer, and partial nephrectomy for the treatment of kidney tumors. He also specializes in the multidisciplinary management of men with testicular cancer, including the use of primary and post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection. He is currently the site leader for several clinical trials investigating the use of immunotherapy in patients with invasive and non-invasive bladder cancer.

Biography: Andrew T. Lenis, MD MS, is an Assistant Professor of Urology at CUIMC. He specializes in treating patients with bladder, kidney, prostate, testis, and penile cancers. Dr. Lenis graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, with a dual MD MS degree and Honors Distinction in Research. He then completed his surgical internship and urology residency at UCLA in Los Angeles, California. After residency, Dr. Lenis completed a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Dr. Lenis joined CUIMC as a surgeon-scientist with an interest and specialization in urothelial cancer (tumors of the bladder, ureter, and renal pelvis). In the laboratory, Dr. Lenis works and collaborates with Michael Shen, Ph.D., who is an expert in bladder and prostate developmental and molecular biology and a pioneer in bladder tumor organoids. The American Urological Association, the American Cancer Society, and the American Society for Clinical Oncology have funded Dr. Lenis' research. His work on urologic malignancies has been published in JAMA, the Journal of Urology, European Urology, the Journal of Clinical Oncology Precision Oncology, and Urologic Oncology. When not seeing patients or in the laboratory, Dr. Lenis enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. They enjoy the outdoors and traveling.

Biography: Dr. Joseph P. While as a fellow, he was funded by an AUA Foundation Award. Dr. Alukal currently serves at Columbia in a number of roles, including his service on the ColumbiaDoctors PO Strategy Committee. As well, he is the Clinical Director for the NYP Reproductive Tissue Bank, in addition to serving on the NYP Tissue Bank Medical Advisory Committee. He maintains a busy clinical practice in men's health, male infertility, male sexual dysfunction, and general urology and has been named to Castle Connolly's Top Doctors New York Metro Area every year since 2016. He is currently named to New York Magazine's Top Doctors 2024. He maintains extensive clinical collaborative relationships with numerous IVF centers, primary care, and cardiology practices in and around the New York City area. He has a Master's in Business Administration from Columbia Business School.

Biography: James A Kashanian, M.D., is the Director of Male Sexual Health and Assistant Professor of Urology and Reproductive Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and a Urologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Cornell Campus.Dr Kashanian has a bachelors of science in Biomedical Engineering and received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.
