Biography: This provider is accepting telehealth visitsDr. Woodworth grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from Chaminade College Preparatory, he attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. While at Vanderbilt, he participated in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps and received an academic scholarship. He graduated cum laude from the Vanderbilt School of Arts and Sciences with a double major of Chemistry and Molecular Biology. After graduation, Dr. Woodworth was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army Medical Service Corps. He deferred his military duty so he could attend medical school at St. Louis University School of Medicine followed by a general surgery residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine Wichita. During his career, Dr. Woodworth has partnered with the medical industry to facilitate the development, application, and advocation of medical technologies and procedures. He is comfortable being in the forefront of providing the most up-to-date medical care available. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Dr. Woodworth has adapted to overcome the hardships facing patients and continues to work on their behalf with new virtual technologies. In moving to Denver, Colorado, Dr. Woodworth is excited to join the Institute of Esophageal and Reflux Surgery founded by Dr. Reginald Bell. The Institute is an established leader in innovation and quality and an ideal tertiary care referral destination due to Denver's central location. Biography: Dr. Vernon sees patients at our Denver and Colorado Springs locations.Dr. Ben Vernon is a native of Iowa. After graduating from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School he completed residency training in general surgery at Duke University. After a combined transplant fellowship at University of Wisconsin and Duke, he joined the Duke surgery faculty. Since 1992 Dr. Vernon has practiced kidney, pancreas and liver transplant surgery and general surgery in Denver. He has served on the UNOS Kidney and Pancreas Committee, as Region 8 Councilor for UNOS, and on the board of directors for UNOS, the OPTN, and Donor Alliance. Dr. Vernon is a past president of the Colorado Medical Society and the Arapahoe Douglas Elbert Medical Society. His transplant experience includes over 1000 kidney transplants and over 300 pancreas transplants.
