Care Philosophy: Dr. Conway has been in the private practice of General Surgery for over 24 years, serving as a consultant to many primary care physicians and sub-specialists for evaluation and management of various surgical conditions over that time. Biography: Dr. Rogers is a native Texan, born in San Antonio. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in biology. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School in San Antonio in 1977. He completed his internship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He did his general surgery residency also at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, followed by a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery (19781983) at the same medical center. In 2012, Dr. Rogers merged his practice with the START Center for Cancer Care. Dr. Rogers is board certified by the American Board of Surgery as well as the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.

Biography: Dr. Lewis completed medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX,on a scholarship from the United States Air Force. Following General Surgerytraining at Wilford Hall Medical Center, he traveled to Connecticut for specialtytraining in Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Lewis then served as residency programdirector at Wilford Hall Medical Center and assistant program director for surgeryat UT Health Science Center San Antonio.After serving honorably for 18 years, Lieutenant Colonel Lewis returned to SanAntonio to enter private practice in 2012. His military experience taught him anappreciation for professionalism, leadership, and a collaborative approach toproblem-solving. These core values have served Dr. Lewis well throughout hisbusy surgical practice. While skilled in all aspects of Colorectal Surgery, hisprimary clinical interests are Colorectal Cancer and Inflammatory Bowel Disease,where a team approach to patient-centered care is paramount. He achieved andmaintains Board Certification from both the American Board of Surgery and theAmerican Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.When not taking care of patients, Dr. Lewis enjoys traveling, golfing, hiking, andspending time with his extended family. He and his wife, Jennifer, are the proudparents of four very accomplished children.

Biography: John H. Winston, III, MD, FACS, FASCRS is a Diplomate of the American Board of Colorectal Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. His main surgical interest includes pelvic floor physiology, minimally invasive colon and rectal surgery, local excision of rectal cancer and dynamic magnetic resonance defecography. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, and completed a residency program in colon and rectal surgery at The Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Winston served as a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio from 2008 to 2015. Dr. Winston has completed many special training courses in the field of colorectal surgery. He is a member of many medical professional organizations and societies.

Biography: Telehealth visits are available.Dr. Abbate was born and raised in Massachusetts. He attended medical school at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine. After receiving his medical degree, he returned to Boston for his surgical training at Harvard's Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Dr. Abbate was a distinguished resident and was selected to serve as Chief of the Surgical Teaching Service after completion of his surgical training. While at MGH, under the mentoring of pioneering pancreatic surgeon, Dr. Andrew Warshaw, Dr. Abbate gained expertise in pancreatic, biliary and complex gastrointestinal surgery.In 2002, Dr. Abbate moved to San Antonio to serve in the United States Air Force. Dr. Abbate's military career included a tour as a combat surgeon in Iraq. He received an honorable discharge in 2006.In 2006, Dr. Abbate began surgical practice in San Antonio. In 2010, he merged his practice with the START Center for Cancer Care. His practice encompasses surgical oncology and general surgery with special interest in breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, gastroesophageal reflux and gallbladder disease. Dr. Abbate is trained on the DaVinci Robotic Surgical System and a high-volume provider of robotic surgery.Dr. Abbate is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery.
