Care Philosophy: Kurt Duncan, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon who specializes in management of various conditions that affect the neck and low back. Diagnostic tools such as X-rays and advanced imaging (MRI, CT scan), EMG, and diagnostic/therapeutic injections are sometimes used to help make a diagnosis. In many cases some of these studies have already been done before your first appointment. Once a diagnosis is made, Dr. Duncan believes that educating his patients about their condition and what outcomes they should expect is paramount. Except in urgent situations, non-surgical treatments usually precedes surgical treatment. If surgery is indicated, Dr. Duncan discusses available surgical options with his patients so that they can make an informed decision about their course of treatment. He believes that this type of patient-doctor relationship allows each unique patient to come to a decision that best matches their goals of treatment and best fits their overall health status.

Care Philosophy: I am a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). I completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery and Joint Replacement at Virginia Tech/Carilion Clinic. My training focused on anterior hip replacements, knee replacements, and complex hip and knee revision surgery.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Struyk sees her role in medicine as an educator helping patients understand their health better so they can partner with her to improve it. She enjoys seeing families and taking care of babies, children, adolescents and adults.

Care Philosophy: I am a transplant to Minnesota, myself being from Iowa and my wife being from Wisconsin (go Cyclones and Badgers!). My wife and I love spending time outdoors, specifically cross country skiing and ice fishing. I am a fan of all sports, though baseball is my true love having had the opportunity to play in college. I am a proud owner of a French bulldog.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Thomas R. Barringer tries to communicate effectively and encourage patients to ask questions. He offers suggestions that help them navigate through their healthcare journey. He enjoys seeing a variety of ages and medical conditions.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Smebak is a primary care physician who cares for entire families in all stages of life. She has particular experience in womens health, including pregnancy care and reproductive planning. Dr. Smebak values long-term relationships with patients and their families, and she works to ensure treatment plans are in line with patients goals and priorities. She emphasizes communication and respect in her relationships with patients.
