Biography: Deirdre L. Sawinski, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine (interim) at Weill Cornell Medical College and Assistant Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian. She received her BS in Art History from New York University and her Medical Degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where she also completed her Internal Medicine residency at Columbia University Medical Center. She trained in Nephrology and Transplant Nephrology at Mount Sinai Hospital. Upon completion of her clinical training, Dr. Sawinski joined the faculty at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and was promoted in 2019 to Associate Professor of Medicine. In 2015 she was appointed as Assistant Medical Director at Penn Transplant Institute, Kindey/Pancreas Transplant Program.Dr. Sawinski has established herself as a productive clinician and researcher; she is recognized in the transplant nephrology community as an outstanding transplant physician-scientist.Dr. Sawinski has chaired multiple committees of the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Transplant (AST) including: the AST Women's Health Community of Practice; AST Fellowship Accreditation Program Committee and Board of Managers; Co-Chair AST Fellows' Symposium Program and Clinical Co-Chair for the AST Research Network Scientific Review Committee.A productive scholar, she currently has five active NIH grants and has published more than 65 peer reviewed research articles.

Biography: Neal Patel, MD, is a urologic surgeon at New York-Presbyterian Medical Group Queens and an assistant professor of urology at Weill Cornell Medicine.After graduating from George Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Patel completed his internship and residency at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine. He then went on to complete a Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) fellowship at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) which focused on the surgical and medical management of complex urologic cancers. In 2020, Dr. Patel was the honored recipient of the Distinguished Housestaff Award by Weill Cornell Medicine for his service and dedication. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and is an ad hoc reviewer for several journals.

Biography: Dr. Natalie Uy is the Chief of Pediatric Nephrology at Weill Cornell Medicine. She is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children's Hospital at Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Uy is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology. Dr. Uy completed her undergraduate degree at Columbia University in New York, NY, and received her medical degree (M.D.) from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at Yale-New Haven Hospital. After residency, she returned to New York City and completed her fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore / Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medicne, Dr. Uy began her academic career at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where she served as the director of the Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship Program. Dr. Uy's research focuses on genetic causes of pediatric glomerular disease.

Biography: Hannah Kim, M.D. M.H.S., is a pediatric nephrologist and assistant professor of pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine, and an assistant attending pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children's Hospital.Dr. Kim graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia and an M.D. from the Medical College of Virginia. She completed her pediatric residency training at the Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C. , followed by fellowship training in pediatric nephrology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, M.D. Prior to joining the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine, Dr. Kim practiced for several years in Pennsylvania at Penn State Children's Hospital. Her clinical interests include the management of chronic kidney disease progression and end-stage kidney disease with a particular interest in dialysis.Dr. Kim is also an epidemiologist with a master's degree in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, M.D. Her previous research has focused on puberty in children with chronic kidney disease and the role of sex hormones on disease progression.
