Care Philosophy: Shanley Deal, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) surgery for obesity (bariatric surgery), benign esophageal disorders (reflux disease, paraesophageal hernias, achalasia) and gastrointestinal surgery. Dr. Wells has a special medical interest in emergency general surgery. Dr. Wells takes a maternalistic approach to patient care. She seeks to understand each patient's goals and to help them achieve them. Her role is to assist, not judge. Dr. Wells' focus on patient-centered care resulted in the receipt of an Award for Outstanding Patient Satisfaction for five consecutive years. Away from work, Dr. Wells enjoys spending time with her kids and dogs, and getting to know the beautiful city of Seattle.
