Biography: Majed Jeroudi, MD, at WK Childrens Health Specialists in Shreveport, Louisiana, treats pediatric blood and cancer patients, as well as patients with sickle cell disease.Children who carry two sickle cell genes, one from each parent, are usually diagnosed with sickle cell disease as an infant. Sickle cell disease can cause various complications that can be painful or life-threatening if not treated. Dr. Jeroudi has decades of experience helping kids manage symptoms like Anemia (fewer red blood cells that result in dizziness and lightheadedness, difficult breathing, pale skin) Jaundice (yellowing of the eyes, skin and mouth) Pain crisis (sickle cells block blood flow in small blood vessels, often in the chest, arms and legs) Acute chest syndrome (sickle cells block oxygen flow in tiny lung vessels resulting in chest pain, coughing, difficult breathing) Splenic sequestration (sickle cells get stuck and build up in the spleen to make organ swollen and painful)Dr. Jeroudi is a native of Syria and attended medical school at Aleppo University. His pediatrics residency was in Shreveport at LSU Health Medical Center and his pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship was in Atlanta at Emory University School of Medicine.
