He remained in Washington, DC, at Georgetown University Medical Center to complete a residency in orthopaedic surgery. He then completed advanced fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Van Nuys, California. Dr. Novak worked intensively with some of the best sports and arthroscopic surgeons in the country during his fellowship training and today is able to perform advanced arthroscopic techniques for a number of orthopaedic problems. His special interests include sports medicine and sports injuries, complex problems of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic shoulder stabilization for loose or dislocating shoulder, ACL and ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair, and cartilage restoration of the knee, and adult joint reconstruction.
