Biography: Dr. Joseph Martinez is a board-certified Neurosurgery specialist in Conroe, Texas. He completed a double major in Chemistry and Economics at the University of New Mexico before attending Medical School at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, both in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Martinez completed his neurosurgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, TX. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery at the University of Miami in Miami, FL.Dr. Martinez entered into the field of neurosurgery because he enjoys the intricacies and detail of the nervous system as well as understanding the mechanisms underlying how things work in the human body. His care philosophy is "to provide surgical treatments for my patients as I would have them provided for me". Dr. Winkler and his wife Taylor live in The Woodlands where they grew up. He has two young daughters, Olivia and Ava. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, being outdoors, and watching college and professional football. He and his family attend St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Dr. Smith is a hand and upper extremity surgeon working at Texas Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine. He is originally from Conroe and attended Conroe High School. Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Oklahoma with honors and then received his medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine, graduating with highest honors and was granted admission into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He received his orthopaedic training at Scott & White Hospital and continued with advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at The University of Chicago. During his training, he worked directly under Dr. Daniel Mass, one of the world's leading experts in tendon injury and upper extremity surgery. He returned to the Tomball/Woodlands area after being an associate professor of upper extremity surgery at Scott & White Hospital. There he instructed residents and young surgeons on the latest techniques and trauma care for upper extremity injuries. Throughout his career, he has learned, performed and researched the most advanced, cutting-edge techniques in hand and upper extremity care providing care for several Major League Baseball teams and serving as one of the team physicians for the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks. Currently, he takes care of the entire spectrum of upper extremity injuries and enjoys the multidisciplinary approach of orthopedic treatment at Texas Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine. He continues to be very active in the community and assists in athletic coverage for several local high schools and organizations: Cypress-Creek, Dekaney, Klein, Klein Forest, Klein Collins, Waller, Magnolia, Magnolia West, and Tomball high schools.
