He misdiagnosed then a few years later claimed credit for Mayo Clinic’s correct diagnosis. I opposed him treating my husband because of that. Covenant would not take him off the case. So he came in my husbands room with 5 nurses to witness as he asked if he wanted surgery without telling him what his illness was or giving him options. My husband was not conscious enough to respond adequately but just said no. He didn’t understand that he had options. Martinez then sent him to hospice to die just as we were finalizing getting permission for his dr to consult. He sentenced him to death then. Martinez is incompetent and will do anything to cover himself. He does not care about people. Worse than just a poor dr.

I would definitely find another neurosurgeon. My mother had surgery by him and she had severe nerve damage to her lower back and lost use of her foot she now has foot drop. She was told by his office oops sorry, nothing we can do. He then left Lubbock for a short period of time. I heard he was back. check around first before settling with him
