Biography: Mathew Voorsanger, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained cardiologist who cares for patients age 15 and older. Dr. Voorsanger's goal is to offer care that is comprehensive, evidence-based and, most importantly, respectful of patients. He tries to meet patients where they are, taking the time to listen to what patients can tell him about their symptoms, and educating patients about recommended testing, treatments and lifestyle changes to help them achieve their best health. Dr. Voorsanger is a member of the Kitsap County Medical Society and is board-certified in Medical Informatics. Dr. Voorsanger performs procedures at St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale.

Care Philosophy: Kevin Y. Zhou, MD, FACC, is a cardiologist with special interest in pacemaker implantation, cardiac catheterization and ultrasound examination of the heart. Dr. Zhou was drawn to medicine by his desire to help people. He treats every patient as if he or she were a member of his own familywith honesty, expertise and compassion. Dr. Zhou is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Medical Association, Washington State Medical Association and King County Medical Society. Dr. Zhou is board-certified in cardiovascular disease, and he is fluent in English and Chinese.

Biography: Satyavardhan Pulukurthy, MD, FACC, FSCAI, is a cardiologist with board certifications in cardiology, interventional cardiology and internal medicine. Dr. Pulukurthy strives to treat all of his patients with skill and compassion, listening to their concerns and providing a customized care plan. He likes to put his patients at ease by being friendly and approachable, and ensuring them that his knowledge and expertise will help achieve excellent outcomes._x000D_ Given his broad knowledge and multi-specialty background, he prefers to treat his patients using a comprehensive approach considering the interrelationship of both the cardiac and vascular systems. Biography: Allen Rassa, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist who accepts all adult cardiology referrals, particularly for known or suspected coronary artery disease, heart failure and all other general cardiology concerns. He performs stress testing, echocardiograms, cardiac catheterization, angioplasty and coronary stent placement. _x000D_ For Dr. Rassa, delivering high-quality medicine to his patients is at the core of his care. He strives to understand each patient's perspective and values to help guide them through the complexities of medical decision-making. Dr. Rassa believes that openness and good communication with patients, families and other medical providers is important for achieving good outcomes. Yuvienco, MD, FACP, is a board certified cardiologist with special medical interest in preventive cardiology; heart failure; cardiomyopathies; pregnancy and heart disease; vascular medicine; and valvular heart disease. He is committed to the highest standard of cardiovascular patient care and satisfaction, and treats each patient with respect and compassion. Dr. Yuvienco offers technologically advanced medicine, including multi-imaging modalities (i.e., TTE, 3D TEE, Peripheral Vascular Sonography, Nuclear Cardiology, PET Imaging and CT Angiography). Care Philosophy: Craig R. Hampton, MD, FACS, is board certified in general and cardiothoracic surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Dr. Hampton has published numerous related topics including stentless aortic valve replacement and mitral valve repair. After finishing medical school at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Dr. Hampton performed residencies in general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and served as chief surgical resident at the University of Washington in Seattle. He also earned an NIH-funded research fellowship in cardiovascular surgery. Dr. Hampton is interested in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery including aortic root pathology, aortic surgery, arrhythmia surgery, coronary surgery, and valve repairs and replacements.

Biography: Dr. Babak Nazer, MD is a Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist who practices in Seattle, WA. He is 43 years old and has been practicing for 17 years. Dr. Babak Nazer, MD is affiliated with UW Medical Center-Montlake and UW Medicine.

Care Philosophy: Thomas (TJ) Templin, II, MD, is a board-certified thoracic surgeon who specializes in cardiothoracic surgery for patients ages 15 and older. He has trained extensively in robotic and minimally invasive thoracic and foregut procedures, including minimally invasive lung and esophageal resections, sympathectomy, and anti-reflux revisions. He also has experience with advanced bronchoscopy and esophagoscopy, including EBUS, airway and esophageal stenting, and esophageal dilation. Dr. Templin follows the Jesuit philosophy of cura personalis, which translates to care for the whole person; he treats individuals, not just diseases. Dr. Templin is a Fellow of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Care Philosophy: Raed Fahmy, MD, FACP, FACC, is a board-certified cardiologist specializing in cardiovascular disease. His special interests include diagnostic cardiac catheterization, transesophageal echocardiography, and pacemaker and defibrillator implantations. Dr. Fahmy believes patient and family member participation are key to quality health care and truly practices what he preaches. Passionate about his work, he contributes to the local community by developing cardiovascular outreach programs in the Greater Puget Sound area. Dr. Fahmy is a member of the American College of Cardiology, Heart Rhythm Society, American College of Physicians, and a former board member of the Pierce County Medical Society and Pierce County American Heart Association chapter. Dr. Fahmy is fluent in Arabic.

Care Philosophy: I believe good outcomes in cardiac surgery depend on a high level of surgeon involvement in all aspects of care, and clear communication among patient and family, surgeon and clinical teams. Communication begins with a detailed preoperative conversation with patient and family, reviewing the patient's condition and options for treatment, and ends when the patient is well into their successful recovery at home and returns to the care of their primary physicians.

Care Philosophy: My goal is to treat each patient as a distinct individual with the utmost respect and patience. I try to always explain the diagnosis, required work up and ultimately, the surgical plan in great detail while using language that is non-threatening and in layman's terms that everyone can understand. I believe that if the patient understands their diagnosis along with the treatment plan, then there is less anxiety and improved participation in their own care. Ultimately this improves the chance for an uneventful recovery with realistic expectations regarding potential outcomes. I perform very complex operations and I believe that if the patient and family members are educated about what to expect, then the experience will be less frightening for all involved. I approach my patients with the same thoughtfulness and consideration I would give a family member facing a similar illness or major operation. Finally, I strive to improve my own skills as a surgeon and a physician every day.

Biography: Elina Minami, M.D., is a board certified physician at the Cardiology Clinic at UW Medical Center and a UW associate professor of Medicine and Cardiology.Dr. Minami is an expert in the management of advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation. She employs a patient-centered approach in managing her patients' care, working with them to find balance in living with a chronic condition.Dr. Minami earned her M.D. from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She is board certified in both Cardiology and in Advanced Heart Failure/Cardiac Transplantation. Her clinical interests include the management of pulmonary hypertension, advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation. Her research interests include stem-cell based therapies in cardiac repair and research in antibody-mediated rejection.?

Biography: Melike Arslan, MD, FACC, FSCAI, is board-certified in cardiology and interventional cardiology. Dr. Arslan enjoys taking care of her patients and making a difference in their lives. She sees herself as the advocate for the patient, always looking for the best care strategy for each individual patient, and as a strong supporter of the personalized practice of medicine. Dr. Arslan emphasizes evidence-based medicine in her practice and uses of up-to-date technologies. She believes making sure that patients have confidence in their care and trust in their physician is a crucial part of her practice.

Care Philosophy: Ahmet Toprak, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist who offers patient-centered, high level, evidence-based care for adults with cardiovascular disease, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, hypertension, arrhythmias, valve disease, peripheral vascular disease and lipid disorders.
