Biography: Rebecca Craig-Schapiro, M.D. Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, and an Attending Surgeon at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She is an experienced board certified surgeon who specializes in kidney, pancreas, and liver transplantation, laparoscopic donor nephrectomy, and general surgery. Her authored publications and research interests include such topics as vascular outcomes in kidney transplant recipients, organ utilization, and the development of predictive clinical biomarkers. Dr. Craig-Schapiro is an active member of several medical societies, including the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and the American College of Surgeons.Dr. Craig-Schapiro graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Biochemistry and a B.S. in Microbiology. Dr. Craig-Schapiro received her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her general surgery residency training at Johns Hopkins, and completed fellowship in Multi-Organ Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago.

Care Philosophy: Urologic oncology is a multidisciplinary field that incorporates innovative surgical technology, systemic treatments such as chemotherapy as well as a focused research effort. As a Professor of Urology and the Clinical Director of Urologic Oncology I continually interact with colleagues in areas of medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology among others in order to provide the most comprehensive and innovative care for our patients with prostate, bladder, kidney and testicular cancer. Advances in robotic technology along with scientific progress in our precision medicine program have allowed us to direct therapy in unprecedented ways. As a leader in this area I look forward to continued advances in this exciting and challenging field.

Biography: Christopher B. Anderson, MD, Associate Professor of Urology at CUMC, joined the Department of Urology in September 2015. He specializes in cancers of the bladder, prostate, kidney, testis and penis and performs both open and robotic surgeries. Dr. Anderson completed his medical degree from Northwestern University, completed his urology residency at Vanderbilt University, and then spent two years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as a fellow in urologic oncology. Following his residency, Dr. Anderson completed a urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and obtained a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard University. Dr. Anderson's research interests include factors that influence the quality of surgery, access to care for patients with bladder cancer, outcomes after robotic prostatectomy, and active surveillance strategies for men with prostate cancer. Dr. Anderson has published several peer-reviewed articles and was recognized as "Best Reviewer" in 2014 by The Journal of Urology and in 2016 by Cancer. Dr. Anderson has clinical expertise in robotic prostatectomy for the treatment of prostate cancer, radical cystectomy with orthotopic neobladder for patients with bladder cancer, and partial nephrectomy for the treatment of kidney tumors. He also specializes in the multidisciplinary management of men with testicular cancer, including the use of primary and post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection. He is currently the site leader for several clinical trials investigating the use of immunotherapy in patients with invasive and non-invasive bladder cancer.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Benvenisty specializes in vascular surgery and endovascular surgery and is qualified as a registered vascular technologist (RVT). With the ability to navigate the system for renal failure patients, Dr. Benvenisty's super-specialty involves helping patients avoid dialysis whenever possible.
