Biography: Kevin McMahon, M.D., is a board-certified neurologist with fellowship in epilepsy at Rio Grande Neuroscience and Epilepsy Center in McAllen, TX. Dr. McMahon began his medical studies at St. Georges University, and went on to complete his residency in neurology at the University of Connecticut. Dr. McMahon then completed a fellowship in neurophysiology with an epilepsy focus at Albany Medical Center. Dr. McMahon is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Dr. McMahon has performed widespread presentations, conferences, publications, and research in the field of neurology and epilepsy. Dr. McMahon's ultimate goal for his patients is to help them alleviate neurologic symptoms and obtain their optimal health and happiness. Dr. McMahon has a fascination with the complexity and sophistication of the brain and nervous system as well as the evolving field of study that is finding cures and treatments for many neurologic diseases that were once considered to be incurable. Dr. McMahon is fellowship trained in the field of Epilepsy. Through his fellowship training, Dr. McMahon was provided with the highest level of study and accomplishment in his field, making him an expert in the treatment of epilepsy, Electromyography (EMG), Nerve conduction (NCS) testing and Electroencephalography (EEG) analysis in patients of all ages. In addition to this, Dr. McMahon has a wide breadth of knowledge in other fields of neurology, which include movement disorders, headache syndromes, and stroke. His practice also offers other specialty procedures and treatments such as VNS interrogation and programming, DBS interrogation and programming, and Botox injections for chronic migraine treatment.When not treating patients, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading and exploring the great outdoors while hiking, camping, traveling, and skiing. He currently welcomes new patients and referrals.
