Biography: Tomiko Fukuda, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon specializing and foot and ankle surgery. Originally from the Midwest, Dr. Fukuda graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She worked in Wisconsin for International Paper as a Chemical Engineer for 3 years before changing her path to medicine. She received her Medical Doctorate from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Fukuda went on to complete her Surgical Internship and her Orthopedic Surgery Residency at McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. She completed a Fellowship Training Program in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Foundation for Orthopaedic, Athletic, and Reconstructive Research in Houston, Texas.Dr. Fukuda has many honors and awards to her credit, including the Walter P. Blount Award for Orthopedics, given by the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She received the Janet M. Glascow Memorial Citizen for Scholastic Achievement Award by the American Medical Women's Association, and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor's Society. Dr. Fukuda has authored several publications and given presentations in her career, including "Impact of Talar Component Rotation on Contact Pressure after Total Ankle Arthroplasty: A Cadaveric Study" presented at the 75th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in San Francisco, California, in March 2008.Dr. Fukuda is a member of the following professional societies: - Alpha Omega-Alpha Honor's Society Active Member- American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Active Member- American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons FellowIn addition to her Texas medical license, Dr. Fukuda is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Biography: Dr. Jackson received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from San Diego State University and completed medical school at Midwestern University in Chicago and Phoenix. Having an accomplished family physician as a father, Dr. Jackson knew from an early age that he desired to be a physician. Further direction was provided during his undergraduate years when he was able to spend extensive time with a distinguished hand surgeon in San Diego, California and performed research on the surgery for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. From that point on, Dr. Jackson became dedicated to learning the skills necessary to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to the hand and upper extremities in order to restore function and enhance individual lives. During his residency in orthopedic surgery at Ohio University, he served as chief resident in his final year and then undertook his surgical fellowship training at Tufts University-New England Medical Center in the Combined Hand/Upper Extremity. Before moving to Houston, Dr. Jackson practiced in Austin and California in hand/upper extremity and general orthopedic surgery. He is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Jackson is interested in nearly every form of art, sports, culture, outdoor activity and environmental pursuit, but tends to spend most of his time with his wife and two young daughters, building computers, listening to music and exercising at the gym while thinking about planning his next marathon.

Biography: Dr. Zohair Abbas, MD is a Rheumatology Specialist who practices in Houston, TX. He is 49 years old. Dr. Zohair Abbas, MD is affiliated with North Cypress Medical Center.

Care Philosophy: Due to his keen interest in autoimmunity, and immune system dysregulation throughout his undergraduate and graduate training, Dr. Ursani pursued his fellowship training in Rheumatology via the Baylor College of Medicine at the world renown Texas Medical Center. During his time in fellowship, he was chosen as one of the top 40 nationally recognized Rheumatology Fellows In Training to participate in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound training through the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists. He is certified in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound by the American College of Rheumatology. He also received a certification in clinical densitometry from the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. Due to his interest in bone health, he focused his research during fellowship on osteoporosis in patients with a history of breast cancer at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Biography: Dr. Fiore is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in hand surgery. He initially developed his interest in hand surgery after fracturing his wrist, wrestling for the Duke University Blue Devils. Forced to undergo surgery and placed in a cast for several weeks, he truly recognized the profound impact having a hand injury can have on a persons physical, emotional, and financial well being. After obtaining his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine he entered general surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry-NJ Medical School where he achieved both local and national recognition in his ability to teach (see curriculum vitae). This teaching ability translated well with his doctor/patient relationships as most patients found him able to break down a complex condition and make it more understandable. Graduating from residency, he proceeded to acquire additional training in hand surgery from the Baylor College of Medicine accredited fellowship where he performed well over 500 operations. The training was diverse to say the least and included elective, non emergent hand surgery as well as limb threatening or mangling trauma. Upon graduation he was invited to stay as faculty for which he was hired as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery. It was a productive year clinically (performed about 400 procedures) as well as academically as he literally wrote the chapter on hand surgery which he co-authored in Sabistons Textbook of Surgery 18th edition.

Dr. Smith is a hand and upper extremity surgeon working at Texas Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine. He is originally from Conroe and attended Conroe High School. Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Oklahoma with honors and then received his medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine, graduating with highest honors and was granted admission into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He received his orthopaedic training at Scott & White Hospital and continued with advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at The University of Chicago. During his training, he worked directly under Dr. Daniel Mass, one of the world's leading experts in tendon injury and upper extremity surgery. He returned to the Tomball/Woodlands area after being an associate professor of upper extremity surgery at Scott & White Hospital. There he instructed residents and young surgeons on the latest techniques and trauma care for upper extremity injuries. Throughout his career, he has learned, performed and researched the most advanced, cutting-edge techniques in hand and upper extremity care providing care for several Major League Baseball teams and serving as one of the team physicians for the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks. Currently, he takes care of the entire spectrum of upper extremity injuries and enjoys the multidisciplinary approach of orthopedic treatment at Texas Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine. He continues to be very active in the community and assists in athletic coverage for several local high schools and organizations: Cypress-Creek, Dekaney, Klein, Klein Forest, Klein Collins, Waller, Magnolia, Magnolia West, and Tomball high schools.
